Gallery (9 pics): “Asymmetrical jewelry designs… Like the glittering tidal pools along a rocky ocean shoreline.” ~Cindy Lietz
Today’s Gallery post showcases a unique pair of asymmetrical dagger style earrings of polymer clay, silver leaf and fine silver handmade earwires. Perfect for the quiet sophisticated modern woman.
Like the glittering tidal pools along a rocky ocean shoreline, the translucent layers of aqua colored polymer clays, swirl and mingle with the sparkle of silver leaf flecks embedded in the clay layers. This watery blue and green layer created using the Rolled Mokume Gane Technique, floats above a thin layer of white polymer and backed by a silver grey base.

I really love the colors you used to make the earrings, they would go with just about everything I wear! :)
Gorgeous colors and I love Mokume Gane!
Oooh, pretty! Love the perfect simplicity of these “cool” earrings. A nice reminder of your great rolled Mokume Gane technique, as well. That was a fun video/great technique! ~Kat
I would absolutely LOVE to see some more “Faux” Tutorials in the future…any type of Semi-Precious Stone would be fine with me, that is one of the things that I truly love about Polymer Clay…it’s ability to mask itself as so many other things. I saw a piece of I believe it’s called “King’s Turquoise” or something to that effect once, it was Turquoise that had been dyed and then heat treated to turn into these gorgeous colors…this particular piece was in shades of pink and purple, I have tried and tried to duplicate it with no real success. Anyway, just thought that I would put my two cents in. Thanks so much for your website Cindy…I look forward to it every Friday!!
A pink/purple faux turquoise would be cool to replicate Jennifer! I’ll see what I can do about coming up with a tutorial for that.
Sorry to take so long to respond to your question. Sometimes I wish there were two or three of me and a few more Doug’s. Then we could get to all the questions and kind comments, a lot faster.
Ooh, I like the idea of pink faux turquoise, too, Cindy
I had FORGOTTEN about this tute ! So I viewed it again -and- These earrings are just beautiful. The colors are so pretty. Actually I bet these are much MORE beautiful in person. They are hard to photograp, with all the sparkle and shine. What a wonderful gift for some lucky lady !!!!

Hi Cindy,
I REALLY enjoyed the Beginners Course and I am wading through all of the back issues that I bought. I am trying to just look at everything and then I will go back and work on them in depth, one at a time.
I love your informal presentation. It is like having someone in my home showing me the in’s and out’s of how to work with polymer clay. I also like when you include your mistakes or when the cane is not behaving as you want it to.
I tried to find a class or two in my area and I could not find one. Actually, I think this online arrangement is better because I can go back and review the videos.
I would really like some more advanced beads in the future. I think I read that you are going to do that soon. Right now I do have my work cut out for me.
Thanks for all your help.
Always,
Cathy
Hi Cindy:
I am in the process of wholesaling my beads. Can you suggest a simple formula for pricing them? I have read some articles and searched Etsy for some ideas. Any suggestions are very welcomed. Thanks for your help.
Hi Carol – I’ve posted several articles about pricing and selling beads here at the blog. You can use “pricing” as the keyword in the search box to find the articles.
I searched in the box in the right hand corner and I got lots of google links, not your links. Can you send me your link?
Carol – It sounds like you are using the Google search box which is in the tool bar area of your web browser. That search box does in fact search the entire web. Our search box is not in your browser tool bar. It is at the top of the right sidebar navigation column… just under the “Contact Cindy” link in the top navigation bar. Our search box will just show you links to articles on this blog.
In many of my old comments, I recommended searching using the search bar at the top or upper “left” side of the page. Now that it’s moved to the right, I hope it doesn’t confuse anyone going off that information… (I realize that’s not the case here — just an observation about the change…)
… just wanted to also say a quick thank you to everyone above, for the kind words. Glad you like the earrings.
These Gallery posts don’t seem to get that many comments but I do them for a few reasons
… one because I get a lot of emails asking if I actually sell any of the jewelry I make
… and two because these posts also provide a teaching component. By seeing how I present and price my jewelry items for sale, my hope is that you guys will get some ideas on how to do the same for yourselves.
And as I said above in the actual post, please feel free to use these thread for general discussion and to propose ideas for upcoming tutes (Thanks Jennifer H for you faux gemstone “vote” :-)
I hope you continue to do these gallery posts Cindy. I wouldn’t mind if you did them more often. To me they are quite valuable in showing me how I can describe and lay out my work to their best advantage. Even your pricing is helpful. I don’t know if it’s you or Doug that is the marketing genius, or the combination of the both of you. Whichever it is, please don’t stop the way you do things. It’s ALL valuable teaching and I thank you :)
Angela
Oh Angela so very well said
Totally agree
Thanks
Thank you girls for saying this! You have no idea how that makes me feel, to hear you say such sweet things about your experience here! To tell you the truth, the marketing genius is all Doug. If it weren’t for him, all my cool ideas would probably be quietly sitting here in the studio waiting for someone to get them out to the world.
I wish every ‘free spirit’ artist and crafter had a ‘systems’ guy like Doug to support them and get their ideas out there. Having a million ideas like I have, would be far less valuable, if kept all to myself. With him, I can have the brain wave, and then actually do something with it, which is a very satisfying feeling indeed.
Sorry to take so long to respond to your comments. As you may have realized, it takes a fair amount of effort to get these tutorials , recipes and posts out to you all. As a result, when it gets busy around here, I can’t always respond as quickly as I’d like. I do read everything though, so keep up your lovely, supportive comments. They really so make my day!
I love these earrings, they have such a beautiful shape and color. Your photo gallery really shows them off nicely.
