Vid #173: “Using
these cane methods
you are teaching us, we can
mimic nature to bring forth
what was once only in our
imaginations.” ~Cindy-E
Oh my gosh, you guys are going to love this Spotted Lily Petal Cane! It is so simple to make, but you can do so many cool things with it! Have a look at the preview video clip below for some cool bead shape ideas. There is a lot more creative potential with this cane than what you may realize!
Plus it is the perfect polymer clay cane for making Fall jewelry projects, since it utilizes this months Autumn Sunflower Color Palette.
It is so hard to believe that with some practice and patience, we (humans) can make such beautiful pieces with our own two hands and the proper tools. We can mimic nature, and we can bring forth what was once only in our imaginations using these cane methods that you are teaching us. I am learning that the sky really is the limit as far as what we can do with Polymer Clay. Thank you for sharing all that you do. You are appreciated :) ~Cindy-E
New techniques to further your experiences in this wonderful world of polymer clay and it’s endless ability to become whatever your heart desires. ~Lynn-W
Cindy, Well I’m so happy that you are so committed to this place and polymer clay because you and this place are an integral part of my life now. I work full time outside of the home and then I come home and clay and often dream of a day when I won’t have to work so much and just stay home and clay all day. I’ve worked in many mediums…. I was a fine arts student before I changed to nursing…. and I love polymer clay more than any other medium. It’s a medium that you can get immediate gratification from. I can go from a couple blocks of clay to a finished project within a couple hours…. ready to wear even!!!! I love that. There are so many materials you can use with PC that the possibilities are limitless. I think that’s my real love! There is and will be a new technique, a new shape, a new medium in which to add…. and someday I will discover something that no one else has…. that is exciting! PLUS!!!! I love creating… it’s a drive that powers my psyche, that infiltrates my being and lets me know that I’m validated and alive. It soothes and awakens my soul. If I did not create… I could not be me. So thank you Cindy for the reassurance that you too shall be here to be a light and guide on my journey. ~Melinda-H
I have made polished stone jewellery before, but polymer clay is so much easier and faster. Just in my 1st day I made 5 pieces, love the immediacy and possibilities. You have the best site on Polymer… I think. ~Philip-D
My eyes have been opened to the possibilities of working with polymer clay. Now the challenge is to source materials here in South Africa. I really love your work and am thoroughly enjoying your website. Regards. ~Annette-R
So much to look forward to, Cindy! I’m excited at all the possibilities, thanks for keeping things fresh and (always) inspiring. ~DJ
I’m beginning to learn that polymer clay is a never ending road of beauty. ~Charles-R

Customer Feedback About Membership Value:
I just don’t understand why anyone who spends money on Polymer Clay, would not spend what little amount Cindy asks for her tutes. You just can not and will not beat this offer anywhere else. I know a lot of it is “oh I will just wait till next week”. Don’t make the same mistake I did. I have one huge regret. I wish I had joined the first time I ran across Cindy’s blog. Just give it a try. Cindy gives way more than she asks. Has done this from the beginning and would bet she will keep giving more and more and more and more. I don’t think anyone would ever regret becoming a member. Uuuuuuggggs to all. ~Peggy-B
I really look forward to your weekly videos Cindy & Doug, and have learned so much from them over the past year. I too have a library of polymer books and magazines and am fortunate to have a local Guild very supportive in my clay endeavors but still enjoy the video close-up, hands on view of projects well out of my reach normally. Being retired and on a pension I have to be thrifty but find the quarterly $9.95 US money well spent. Traveling now means always with my trusty laptop so I don’t miss those Friday A.M. videos or the comraderie of the daily blogs. ~Lawrence-S
Hi Cindy – Love your website – I just highly recommended you to a friend yesterday who was talking about making clay beads. Hope she signs up – will be the best investment she’ll make in learning how to make polymer clay beads. Take care. ~Samone

How great this is going to be. Hope I brought all the colors with me.
Autumn is upon us so along with the beautiful colors Cindy has made for us and Doug has caught a wonderful picture of, I need to change my wording. No more grand slams or out of the ball park. This is a TOUCH DOWN !!!!!!!!
Wooooooo Hoooooooo. Our GrandKids have 3 day weekend off from school so they will be here anxious to watch this one with me.

Will have fun doing this one.
Love
XX E.
Brilliant loved it and how easy it is! Loved the waves it almost looked as if it had been painted! Thank you ! Anne x
Beautiful! back home in KY, Tiger Lilies grow wild along the roads. I have always loved them. I agree with Anne O “Brilliant” I can’t wait to play with this one..
Great tutorial. As you say in the video I do try not to “be hard on myself” but I am sure it would be easier “not to be hard on myself” if my name was Cindy Lietz! I like the thought of being able to add spots to things. Thank you for another enjoyable Friday treat.
LOVELY!!!! This one has a lot of possibilities, across all spectrums! ·:*¨A¨*:·.·:*¨Rainbow¨*:·.·:*¨Of¨*:·.·:*¨Thanks¨*:·.
Well, I’ve actually made a couple of these canes before; but, as always, Cindy adds a few tweaks into her techniques and the results are fantastic! I’m also looking forward to making a rainbow selection of canes. This is going to be fun…
Where can I buy those special flame dipped copper head pins that you showed in the spotted lily cane? I love that cane. I would like to try a necklace using the petals like you did.
@Dorothy: I can supply you with those copper headpins… click on the link by my name for more info.
@Everyone: So glad to hear you are all enjoying this week’s video. Simple, elegant, easy. Can’t wait to see what you guys make.
You make such wonderful items, I can hardly wait to try my hand at these spotted leaves. It looks like so much fun. Thanks Cindy.
Great tutorial…I adore flower canes (and flower petal canes.) This is beautiful, and you explained it perfectly…our tutor at her best! Such a lovely cane, and cool projects you made with it. Thanks so much! ~Kat
PS: Love your “rainbow” Michelle! ;D
I was driving home the other day and was admiring the gorgeous sunflowers that were in the bright sun. What a beautiful pendant this would make, like the example in the video but put together slightly differently. The “fresh turned soil” color is something that needs to be used by anyone who gardens. I think that’s what draws me to that color especially.
Hi everyone………just wanted to let you know that I finally posted some pictures on the facebook page…………some of the art sheets, mosaics and embedded links…….can’t wait to hear the feedback
@Kathy: Worth the wait! So happy you posted your beautiful pictures — looks like you got lots of feedback, too. If you can, try to put a description under your photos, showing which techniques/tutes you used…others will help add video links if you have trouble, but they need to know the name of the technique… Thanks for sharing your work! :D
Can anyone else get the video tutorial on the iPad? Thanks for any info beadlady
Katheryn K – This has been discussed in a couple strings that you can find by entering iPad in the search field at the top of the left column here. If I’m not mistaken the bottom line is that it won’t work currently. But I could be wrong so do a bit of research through that search field and then you’ll have a really strong answer.
JUST POSTED… Member project photos that relate to the theme of this page… Super Easy Spotted Lily Canes.

Hello Again Cindy,
This may seem like a silly question, how ever one that I must ask. When mixing the colors for this cane, what size are your parts that are used because I did not have the amount of clay in the end needed for the size to make this cane.
It doesn’t really matter what size the part is. If you need more clay for a project, you can use a bigger cutter. Just use the same cutter for all the parts. Here is a link to a tutorial that will teach you all about Mixing the Color Recipes.
Hope that helps!
