Video #701: There’s good news and bad news in this video… but in the end… if you stick with us… it’s all good news :-)
Today’s video will bring you up to speed with all of the changes that are happening… and how we are making sure that everyone is still getting their monthly “fix” of PcT videos… even through this extended transition period. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding :-)

I hope you can take some time for yourselves. This must have been quite a task! But, I know the new site will be awesome! Take your time and get it right. Now, I have time to play catch up. Even though I have watched every video, I have not done each tutorial. So, I have some work to do to get up to par.
Thank you so much for your kind comment Catalina! It has been way harder than we thought it would be. There is so much content (700+ videos now!) plus all the written content… its a little like renovating a 20,000 square foot mansion. A huge undertaking! I don’t suspect there will be much rest until everything is done. Keep in touch… would love to hear about what you end up working on over the net 3 months.
Hey you two, some disappointment but I also realize what a huge task it is to raise a website from scratch and the bugs that have to be worked out and some webmasters just don’t get it at times. Three months sounds like a long time but in reality it has taken a lot longer for some websites to go live and then when they do there are still kinks to be worked out. There’s an old saying “good things take time” and they do. I would much rather wait for a great launch than a so-so one that ends of in a lot of frustration. I think most of us will “get it” and all of the new features you are adding to the new one is certainly going to be worth the wait besides I am gaining 3 more videos I didn’t have before so it’s really a win-win all around. The upcoming quarter is so full of holidays, planning, shopping, baking, gift making so please take a breather once in awhile, we are still going to be here after all is said and done! Happy Halloween and may there always be a wind at your back!
Thank you so much Dixie Ann for your kind support! It means so much to us to hear your encouraging words. Like I just wrote to Catalina, this is an enormous undertaking and to know those of you who have been around the longest are being so understanding, it really helps us find the energy to power through. I love the image of the wind on my back… will definitely focus on that. Thanks again and Happy Halloween to you too!
You guys are worth the wait!!! Plus, I’m now only two videos away from owning them all, so once I purchase those I’ll get access to all the behind the scenes, which I really wanted. How many videos do you have to purchase in order to get the discount package you mentioned?
Thanks for your support Michelle. Too bad those Gravatar pictures don’t come with a sound byte. Whenever I see your, I always feel like I should be hearing you singing something loudly… lol.
And in regards to your question about “… how many videos do you have to purchase in order to get the discount package..” >> more that two ;-)
Well, just wait til we have the new video upload option, I’ll have to make the first PCT music video just for you guys, LOL, or should I say LA LA LA! :o)
Hi Cindy and Doug, I so understand and am really looking forward the new site. (And I love the earrings your wearing in this video!!)
Thanks for the new studio cam videos, I’m enjoying them very much.
Thanks Dawn! Glad you are liking the Studio Cam videos! I am having fun making them. Those earrings are a simple leaf cane with some resin on both sides, dangling from some hoop earrings I made. It is a fun way to use up little bits and you can change them out real easily.
Yesterday I was looking at all the volumes I don’t own (there are a lot, I’m new to the PcT family :)) and thinking I should probably add a few more to my collection. Also, like Catalina, I have many techniques I’m yet to try. So there’s plenty to do while you guys get things ready. As someone who works on web-based products I appreciate the complex changes to be made. I can’t wait to see the three new volumes added to my library!
I’d also love a sneak peek at the new site! That private chat area sounds amazing! It’d be kinda cool if there was a members gallery area associated with each volume. I’m always curious about what other folks have done with the same technique. I’m following the Facebook page, but the pictures kinda get lost in the group.
Thanks Krithika, we’ll have to see about giving a sneak peek sometime. Though we’ll keep it a secret for now since we are still making several changes and don’t want to show it too soon.
(Poco a poco se anda lejos).
A Peruvian proverb meaning “little by little one walks far”. I think we all understand good things are worth waiting for, and like many other members, there are a number of back issues that for various reasons I never attempted, so now is the time, but thanks for keeping us informed Cindy…….cheers xx……
What a beautiful quote Elaine! Thank you so much for passing that along. It is very comforting actually. :)
Hi guys
While I haven’t got a clue as to what or how it takes to go into a web site let alone upgrading one I do understand. Upgrading my iPad with all my apps and PDF’s I lost everything and am not trying to put everything back. This is just my iPad, to do what you guys are doing has to be enormous and time consuming. I appreciate the notification and in the end it will be well worth it.
Denise (Peppermarie)
That’s… “now” trying to put everything back.
LOL I have an older Android phone that I am trying to make last longer than it wants to… (I have an awesome price that stops when I get a new phone), so I also understand the your updating simple things being an issue. With over 700 videos and thousands of posts it is an enormous task. Would be way easier to start again… only we’ve done some pretty cool stuff over the years that would be better if we kept!! ;)
Can’t tell you how happy I am to have found this site and how much I appreciate the wonderful tutorials. Sorry to hear about your delay on the new site but I JUST joined about a month ago so that gives me time to get some more tutorials purchased before the price goes up so for me it’s ok tho I’m sure it’s frustrating for you guys. Thanks again!
Thanks Vickie! Hope you’re having fun with what you’re learning!
Computer guys not knowing about deadlines :) You know, any of us who are or have ever been teachers- like you Cindy – we get it about deadlines, there are definitely some professions for which a firm deadline is like jello :)
Take it easy, don’t stress- I was thinking exactly like Dixie-Ann- this is the beginning of a busy time, so just roll with it- love you guys and all you are doing to make this an even more rewarding website-
Laurie
Thank you Laurie! Love your comment… “a firm deadline is like jello”… yeah no kidding! lol
Dear Cindy and Doug
Please do not worry about the delay, anyone who works in IT or with IT is aware of the dreaded delivery date, and 9/10ths of the time the date gets bumped back because of poor marketing (they committed without fully understanding your needs.)
It always boomerangs on the provider and the customer. Hope they discounted their services to comp you for the lack of preparation to sell and service the new system.
The new site sounds fabulous.
Fondly
Jocelyn
Thank you sweetie! Yes it will be fabulous when it is done. Looking forward to getting back to a more normal work day!
LOL! I have never yet seen a “tech project” -website or otherwise- go with out a hitch but they do get done and so will this. Thank you for keeping the communication open and updating us, that is one of Many things that makes you such a great teacher and a good team. Thanks Cindy and Doug!!
Thank you Sarah for the kind words of support. It is very much appreciated!
Hey, Cindy and Doug
I know nothing about creating web sites, but being on the Directors Board of the Bison Producers of Alberta, who are currently in the process of upgrading our web site …. my sympathies go out to you! I only know the frustration of trying to figure out all the questions and parameters to ask a prospective designer, and that’s bad enough!!!
As someone else mentioned, I would rather wait and have a super roll out, than go now and have the site cause lots of problems and frustrations. Do NOT forget to take time for yourselves and Willow and Fisher, and extended family, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I have only one question. If I understood correctly, you mentioned in the video about 3 back issues that we will get because of the delay. Is this 3 more free back issues for current members, in addition to the 3 we got before October 1, or is the comment meaning the 3 from before? Of course, we ALL love free stuff, but I only ask so that I know to keep checking for them if this means 3 more. I wouldn’t want to miss seeing them and downloading the colour recipes before the KICK OFF da-duh-da-dun!! :) (when the recipes will disappear) If not, I have so many to get through now that I am fine with that too!
Stay Calm and Carry On! Your Groupies aren’t going to turn Deep Ultramarine Blue and fall by the wayside just yet. Pale Cerulean, maybe … lol
Hi Doreen,
Thanks for your support and understanding through this transition period.
In regards to your question… yes it is 3 more back issues in addition to the ones that you have already received. This is our “contingency plan” to make sure that paid subscribers are still getting their “fix” of videos… roughly about one hours worth off videos per month. So… each time the auto debit system bills you for another $9.95 quarterly charge, it means that you will be entitled to receive another 3 months worth of videos.
Those who don’t yet own all the back issues, will receive back dated volumes. And those who do own everything, will receive Studio Cam videos.
Make sense?
Hi Doug, got my 3 videos for the next three months. Thanks for doing it so fast. Now I’m only behind 3 videos from owning the whole library.
Yes… my goal is to try to get everyone back dated as soon as each subscription billing happens… at least with a couple days anyway.
Whether we know about building web sites or not, we can understand that you are doing a tremendous amount of hard work to get this new show on the road. We know from past experience that you, Cindy are a great teacher and you, Doug are an great videographer and webmaster. We know it’s worth waiting for you! You have our support 100%. Simple as that :-)
:-) :-)
I’m a little confused here. I saw Doug’s saying something about a quarterly charge and then we will get other 3 “fix” videos.
I have a year subscription (paid 2015-08-18) and my next billing date 2016-08-18.
I’ve never paid quarterly. So will I get those 3 more videos and when?
Hi Olga – Even though you have paid annually, you will still receive the “3 more videos” on or around the date that your account would have been billed if you were paying quarterly. So.. in your case since your annual billing happened on Aug 18, your videos will be added on or around Nov 18 which is 3 months (1 quarter) past your annual renewal date.
Thank you for the wonderful video on getting around the existing site and finding the videos we own. That really helped a lot. I noticed someone was asking about an annual fee. Can you give me a little for info on that option.
I use to work in IT so know exactly the frustration you are going through with the launch of your new site. Thanks for all your hard work and hang in there it will be wonderful in the end.
Thanks for the pep talk Terry… appreciated!
Here is the direct link to set up annual billing.
The advantage of switching to annual is so that you don’t have keep your credit card up to date as often.
If you do make the switch, we will do the manual adjustments from our end so that you get the balance of your current quarterly subscription tacked on to the end of your new annual subscription.
Hi Cindy and Doug
I like this idea about Yearly payments. I have just set it up Yeah!
.As I am a long time member I am going to require Videos from way back.
So will be looking in the first few. Thanks keep up your wonderful work. love to you both.
XXX Elizabeth.
P.S. would love to make some friends thru my Face book,
where today I put in some great thoughts from Louise Hay XX
Hi Cindy and Doug!
Thanks for the update. I am sure that as everyone is echoing, this site will be well worth the wait. I so appreciate your professionalism and can’t wait to see what you have created for us. I hope you are taking some time off when you can. Currently I am busy making jewelry for a December show using some of the techniques I learnt from you and am quite excited. Going to use my new Simple Slicer for the first time today too, just reviewed the demo you did :). Be well and God bless you!
Karen
Hi Cindy and Doug – sorry for the delay in replying to your Oct 1 video, I’ve been ill and unable to get to my PC (I fell backwards over our dog in the garden and hurt myself badly, it’s taken 3 weeks so far and still have trouble getting out of bed in mornings.)
Anyway, just wanted to sympathise with your struggles. As a website writer myself I know exactly what you’re going through and can only wish you the very best. Setting up something new whilst still maintaining the ‘old’ is a real Herculean task!
Excited to hear about the 3 hour long videos for full members, and wondered where we can find them? I need a bit of a lift and your videos would be perfect!
My thanks to you both again, looking forward to 1st January 2016!!
Marion
Hi Marion – Sorry to hear about your injury. Hopefully your pooch is at least keeping you company while you heal.
In regards to the Studio cam videos, this video explains how you will be able to access them.
