Katiedids Bezel Pendant Inset with Polymer Clay Faux Raku and Crackled Gold Leaf:

Katiedids Pendant, Deep Crackle Faux Raku and Crackled Gold Leaf

**************************************************************************************************

Today, I’m excited to share photos of this pretty polymer clay pendant … made with a unique jewelry component, called Katiedids. This Silver Plated Bezel was designed by the great Bead Guru, Katie Hacker, and comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, perfect for customizing.

Well, Katie sent me a few of these awesome jewelry findings to try out, and I am totally having a ball with them! In fact they are so cool, I plan to do a video tutorial within the next few weeks, to show you guys how to use them.  >> UPDATE: Here is the link to the Katiedids Video Tutorial.

Inset into the center ring of this lovely Silver Plated Pendant, is a softly toned circle of one of my signature polymer clay techniques, Deep Crackle Faux Raku.

Surrounding the raku is a ring of the sparkling Crackled Gold Leaf, all rosied up with colorful alcohol inks. Both the outer ring as well as the center section of this Kadiedids pendant, are protected with a beautiful high gloss layer of UV Resin.

Wire wrapped with 20g Sterling Silver Wire, this pendant measures a total length of 3 1/4 inches (8 cm) from the top hanging loop, to the bottom of the Sterling Silver chain tassel.

Price: $25 (US) Raku and Crackled Leaf Katiedids Pendant (chain not included) – If you are interested in purchasing the pieces shown in today’s gallery post, then send me an email. Be sure to include your full mailing address so I can work out the shipping cost for you.

Cindy, those are really unique and very pretty. Katy said those findings were going to be at Michael’s but not for long. I wasn’t going to get them but after seeing your beautiful pendant, I have to run over there before they sell out. I bet they would be pretty with the butterfly cane too.

  2. Lisa Whitham, 17 November, 2010

Wow, beautiful piece Cindy, as usual. I love the faux raku and I love the tassel too..!

Also, everyone else.. Went to Michaels yesterday expecting to pay full price for some clay, and Premo was 4 blocks for $5 – nice surprise! Don’t forget, if they are out of a color you want you can get a Rain Check to get it at the discount price when they get it back in stock. I had to get one for white!

    Clay On,
    ~Lisa :)

SO PRETTY! Cindy – will you teach us ——— soon? You sure have a way with PC.

The Michaels, near me, has never heard of them. Boo

  4. Brenda, 17 November, 2010

Thanks for sharing.. It is really beautiful. I have seen these before in our stores.

  5. Cindy Lietz, 17 November, 2010

I’m glad you like The Katiedids guys! I am just loving how pretty they are. There are a bunch of different shapes too. Katie carries them at her site and I linked to them above. She has some great sets that you may want to check out. She said she would be happy to ship to Canada for anyone who lives here. Also, shadesofclay.com is now carrying them. Katiedids are new so I’m sure they will start showing up in more and more places as well.

@Lisa Whitham: Thanks for the heads up on the Premo sale pricing at Michael’s.

  6. fran, 17 November, 2010

Love the look of these – not in the stores here so will get an order off so I have them for later.

  7. Susan B, 17 November, 2010

I really like the idea but tend to shy away from silver plate and if possible go for sterling silver. Will be very interested to see your technique anyway.

  8. Elizabeth S., 17 November, 2010

Wow! Stunning piece! Think I’ll wait to order until I see how they work. So glad you are planning a tut so we can see more.

  9. Lorraine Coetzee, 18 November, 2010

I love it. Stunning and very unique. XX

  10. Linda K., 18 November, 2010

I tend to agree with Susan B…I no longer use silver plate items because the plate wears off too quickly. BUT I know that I’m going to learn things in this video that will feed my creativity and that can be used in other projects.

Went to your link for Katiedids and was truly surprised by what they are! Wasn’t expecting that at all! What a great idea!

I personally find that most people are happy to pay for silver plate as opposed to silver. If they actually want silver – than I can provide that for them. However – the wallet comes out much easier with silver plate.

To buy that pendant from you Cindy is an incredible bargain! Especially getting one of Cindy’s best for only $25! Wowza!!

  12. Ritzs, 26 November, 2010

Hi everyone I love this idea of Cindys. Allthough I cannot do any claywork yet, (my hand and arm wont let me). I still love to look and try to keep up with it all, but I get tyred so fast., you all give me hope that I will soon be back in my work room once more and joining in the fun. Love and godbless to you all Ritzs.

  13. Cindy Lietz, 27 November, 2010

@Ritzs: Ritz is is so heartwarming to see your comment here! Like Pollyanna said, it will take some time before you are back to claying again. But just seeing your words back here on the blog makes me feel so happy to know that your recovery is coming along! You are such a strong and positive woman. It is wonderful to hear from you!

  14. Elizabeth S., 27 November, 2010

@Ritzs: Wow Ritzs!! I was sitting here catching up on the comments and here is one from you. It made my day!!! Having you back with us is certainly another blessing to be thankful for. We have missed you.

  15. Pollyanna, 26 November, 2010

Ritzs my gosh girl…..welcome back!!!! So good to ‘see’ you. Give it time. You’ve come a long way already.
Love this video. I don’t always do a tute when it first comes out. I have a lot of learning to do and sometimes it takes me a couple of weeks to digest what I’m supposed to be doing, Someone[Elsabeth?] mentioned ‘getting’ things after reviewing them again. Well, that’s me at times because this is a different medium for me. Did anyone really want to know this…..lol. So, if I don’t jump right into something it isn’t the tutor but the tuteeee…..:).

  16. Jocelyn, 27 November, 2010

RITZ!!!!! So great to see you recovering! Blessings to you and your husband, as you continue, and hope you have a joy filled New Year.

What did you think of the necklace?

  17. Phaedrakat, 02 December, 2010

I thought I had commented here, but missed it somehow. I really love this pendant by Cindy…it’s beautiful, making stunning use of these handy Katiedids bezels. Her polymer work is gorgeous, and the chain detail is a lovely touch. I would snatch it up (it’s a great price!) but I think I remember reading another member was going to buy it (‘course, I could be wrong…) Still, now that Cindy has taught us how she made it with her awesome video tute, I suppose I should just buy some bezels & make my own…

  18. Debra DeNearing, 27 March, 2011

Help! I want to get some of those neat katiedids but her website is out of otfer, beadalon doesnt list the and Michaels doesn’t hve them! Do you have a soure for me? Please!

  19. Cindy Lietz, 28 March, 2011

@Debra DeNearing: Hi Debra, I have sent off an email to Katie to ask her where the best place is to get Katiedids. Hopefully she will either get back to me or pop in here herself. I’ll let you know.

  20. Natalie H, 28 March, 2011

    @Debra DeNearing:
My Michael’s now carries the Katiedids so check yours out..ask the manager when your store will be getting them in . Have fun with them.

  21. Natalie H, 28 March, 2011

Can’t wait to order another batch of back order videos..this time I will include the Katiedids..oversite on my part with my last order

  22. Katie Hacker, 01 April, 2011

Cindy, your faux raku in my Katiedids pendant is just gorgeous! I love it. Thanks so much for sharing this awesome technique with your readers.

For all of you who are wondering where to purchase Katiedids™ Creative Components, there are currently variety packs at Michaels, they will be in Joanns stores soon, they’re available on Amazon, and my new shopping cart will be online soon at katiehacker.com (I can accept orders the old-fashioned way via US postal).

I’m getting ready to announce the first-ever Katiedids Design Contest and I would love to see lots of polymer clay entries!

  23. Silverleaf, 02 April, 2011

@Katie Hacker: Hi Katie, will your bezels be available in the UK? I think they look awesome but I guess if I ordered some from the US I’d end up paying more for the S&H than for the bezels themselves!

  24. Phaedrakat, 15 September, 2011

Saw the Katiedids at JoAnn finally — and they seem to have the entire collection! They have every type Cindy showed in her Katiedid’s Tutorial, so I’m thrilled about that. Not sure which thread I used before, but they also have a combo-set of Katiedids at Michaels. I’ll bet it’s not long before other places get them, too!
