The future sounds exciting! A positive aspect to not having our regular tutorials could be the chance to catch up on previous ones where we didn’t have the time, materials etc OR mix up all those colour recipes that we keep meaning to do but somehow keep putting off OR… OR… :-).

I love the idea of having printable versions of the tutorials and to have links for updated information? Wow, that will save heaps of time looking for them!

Thank you Cindy and Doug for making this already good place even better :-)

  2. Peg Carter, 02 July, 2015

Wow! This is wonderful news! You always take care of us. I’m excited to see the new format. Thanks Cindy & Doug

  3. Karen Kann, 02 July, 2015

Oh my! Sounds like quite the endeavor! I love the whole idea. You and Doug try to get outside and play too!! Thanks again for all you do for us. Happy claying to all! And happy 4th of July to all in the US.

  5. Denise Osborne, 02 July, 2015

Thank you so much for clarifying what’s going to happen. Looking forward to he behind the scenes videos.

  6. Rosy Simpson, 14 August, 2015

I, too, was wondering when the cam videos will start, so looking forward to these videos.

  7. Doug Lietz, 17 August, 2015

We are working on it as fast as we can… so much to do… so little time… but we will get there!

  8. Peggy B, 02 July, 2015

Wonderful exciting news. Have my calendar marked for Octobers new tutorial and looking forward to the gift you and Doug have made for us on your behind the scenes filming.

Don’t forget to enjoy part of your summer with all the family. Sounds like you will be very busy working to make things better for all of us like you have always done in the past.

Thank you all so very much

  9. Elaine Faulks, 02 July, 2015

I hope you two will take some fun breaks as this sounds a mammouth task, but All work and no play etc…………
Take time to smell the roses!!
I know there are quite a few tutorials I need to do again as I now have a better understanding of the wonderful world of Polymer clay.

So once again, thanks for all the exciting ways you come up with to make this the best site ever…….cheers xx

  10. patty jorgenson, 02 July, 2015

    Patty

  11. Denise Osborne, 14 August, 2015

I agree seeing the behind the scence videos will be awsome. Will those also start in October?

  12. Doug Lietz, 17 August, 2015

Hopefully before October… we are working on it.

  13. Doug Lietz, 04 September, 2015

Studio Cam Videos Have Now Launched… Details Here

  14. Beth Sullivan, 02 July, 2015

Can’t wait to see to see the new and improved sight, Maybe now I can find time to do all of the back lessons I purchased. Excitedly waiting for your return in October.

  15. Rosy Simpson, 02 July, 2015

How nice that you and Doug are doing all these changes to benefit your members. I look forward to seeing the cam videos I know that they will be very interesting. Have a great summer don’t work to hard.

  16. Peggy F, 03 July, 2015

All of your videos are really great and it’s great that you are making some changes but it seems like you need a whole new website that is much easier to navigate. It would make your life and ours much easier. Thanks for working on this.

  17. Doug Lietz, 03 July, 2015

Yes… a whole new web site… that is the plan :-)

  18. Dixie Ann, 04 July, 2015

Hi Doug, If we are going to be able to get the PDF for future tutorials, will we be able to get them for the earlier ones all the way back to Video No. 1? There are so many I would love to have. Thanks to both of you for all your hard work in bringing about all these changes. Just developing and building a new website is a monumental task and I don’t think the growing pains will stop there. It’s wonderful the way you two listen to the wants and needs of your subscribers and actually act on them. With all you two have to do, the response time to us in answering our questions and the help you give is amazing. Very few subscription services care enough to give their very best. (Sounds like an old Hallmark remark) but in your case it is especially true. So as the excitement builds and we pass through summer, am so looking forward to Octobers tutorial and all the changes.

  19. Cindy Lietz, 05 July, 2015

Hi Dixie Ann, I’ll answer for Doug. Yes we will be adding the Pdfs to all of the back issues, but it may take some time. We are starting with the most recent and working backwards until we are finished. You guys will have to be patient because they are a ton of work but we’ll go as fast as we can!

  20. Dorothy Hurkett, 01 August, 2015

What a blessing you two are to the world of Polymer Clay…You keep it exciting and new. Thank You…dhurkett

  21. cara letho, 03 July, 2015

Fabulous news and I have been with you so many years and hope to be with you many more!
Change is always worth being patient for.
    Many thanks
    cara

  22. Beth W, 03 July, 2015

Great news – especially the lifetime access. I hated the thought of not being able to step away for a while without losing everything. Any chance of allowing us to fill out our collection with a “deal”? Like buy 10 and get one free? It never hurts to ask :-)

That sounds like a VERY busy summer for you. Good luck!!!!

  23. Doug Lietz, 03 July, 2015

Hi Beth… I’m sure we can work something out.

For any subscribers interested in purchasing a bunch of videos all at once… this is a case where email works best… or use the Contact Us Link.

Just let us know which Volumes you are wanting… and we’ll deal with these types of requests on a case be case basis.

By the way… if any of you have special requests for features that you would like to see added or changed in the new membership site… this comment thread is where you should speak out. We’ll do our best to accommodate :-)

  24. Sandra N, 03 July, 2015

Great News. This is going to be grand; can’t wait.

  25. Michelle Lacroix Toro, 03 July, 2015

Oh, this is so exciting! Loving the sound of the lifetime membership AND the PDF’s! Thanks for everything you and Doug do for us, Cindy!

  26. Candice Dear, 03 July, 2015

I’m excited about the changes. Can’t wait for it to be up and running. Hopefully, you’ll be able to take some time to enjoy the summer too.

  27. Anna Sabina, 03 July, 2015

As always, thank you for all your hard work. I am so glad to hear about the lifetime access for those of us that already own all the videos. I am looking forward to the behind the sciences videos too. I hope some of those will be like a stream of consciousness and, “What was I thinking.” As members we probably do not realize how many questions you get that have already been answered or are in one of the videos. We need to remember that anytime you and Doug take time to do research or answer those questions is taking time away from your artistic process.
I hope you folks take time this summer for another PC Road Trip. Enjoy your summer !!!

    Anna

  28. Ken Hamilton, 03 July, 2015

I can’t wait, the last upgrade, when you went tot the current Video release format is fantastic, can’t wait to see what this new upgrade (PCT 3.0?) holds. I also can’t wait to see the behind the scenes vids! Try to enjoy your summer too while you get all this up and running.

  29. Marlene Gremillion, 03 July, 2015

Sounds great Cindy. Looking forward to the new format. I do enjoy your publications a great deal.

  30. Cindy Peterson, 03 July, 2015

    Cindy and Doug

HelloI am very excited for the both of you. This sounds like a win win for all of us. I support you 100% and love the idea you came up with. I an not wait to see all of the new things, And the PDF’s are great as I work upstairs and the computer is downstairs. Sometimes I miss steps and this will help me more with learning new techniques. Will all paid subscribers be able to view behind the scenes as well or will that be a separate purchase?

Thank you for all your hard work and love you both

    The other Cindy

  31. Cindy Lietz, 04 July, 2015

Hi Cindy, I am glad you are excited! The Studio Cam behind the scenes videos will only be for those that own all the back issues. If you don’t yet own all the videos you would have to purchase the remaining ones, in order to have access to the Studio Cam videos. See Doug’s comment above.

  32. Kathy Smith, 03 July, 2015

So thrilled to hear about the new plans! The idea of having a PDF file I can have with me at my worktable is so exciting. I was always watching the videos, taking notes, then walking to my work room, etc. It never failed that I would miss noting some part of the tutorial and then have to go back to the computer, etc.

I’ve just been a member for a little over a year, but love all the tutorials. Thanks so much; good luck!

  34. Elizabeth Kerr, 04 July, 2015

    Hi Cindy and Doug
WOW! what an exercise, how wonderful of you to do this. A big job, but so much better for everyone.
When I started with you 6/7 years ago, I used to watch the video and write down all you were saying as you went, you should see my albums. Screeds of instructions are there, but it was good. Also have all my recipes on cards like you suggested.
Like others I did not have my comp near my work bench, so had to come in every so often and go thru the video a few times.
Still I have learnt so many new things over the years.
I love this idea, and look forward to the new platform.
Have a great summer and do get some time to yourselves.Life’s not all work and no play, so as one member said,
TAKE TIME OUT TO SMELL THE ROSES.
Rejuvenate your selves for the year ahead.
Thanks for all you do it is so appreciated.
    Bye for now
    with great love xxx

  36. Cassandra W, 04 July, 2015

Sounds like you have some great plans for the future. I looked at my file and I go way back to 12, if possible I would prefer to get the “back door” videos. As a long time polymer user the earlier videos contained a lot of basic stuff. In advance I would like to thank you for ever thing.

  37. Cindy Lietz, 05 July, 2015

Hi Cassandra… we anticipated that this question would come up… and yes the earliest videos are definitely more basic than what we are producing now. However, there is still some good info in them.

So to answer your question more directly… there won’t be any “jumping the queue” so to speak. Owning all the the back issues is the cost of admission to get access to my Studio Cam series.

The good news for you Cassandra, is that since you have been around for so long, you have only being paying a little over $3 per Volume for the Back issues. Most everyone else with large back issue collections has paid much more than that.

Another question that has not yet come up… is whether or not we will be selling separate access to the Studio Cam videos. And the answer to that question is… no we won’t. These Studio Cam clips are going to be kept super exclusive, just for our “bestest” customers :-)

  38. Iris A, 06 July, 2015

That’s unfortunate. I’d pay for access to the studio cam, but I would have to spend over $400 to buy all the back issues I don’t own so I guess I’ll never be one of the “bestest” customers.

  39. Janet T., 04 July, 2015

thank you very much, for all the exciting news! I am basically new on Polymer Clay, but I am really blessed to have found Cindy PCT. I’ve owe this lady all my understanding. This site is so joyful and entertaining and I really love the way it is right now. For the purchased area, I initially had planned to purchase a couple of tutorials, but then I purchased a bunch more, and finally decided for the paid membership in June.  Well, this was going to be my initial 3 paid videos. Simply, all sounds exciting, you both are trying to bring the best for us. I don’t have the problems you others mention of have the computer on another room, but the pdf’s are going to be very helpful for me too, to further understand the tuts, making analysis when not working, and that I am able to understand better when I read in English than when hearing it. DEFINITELY, for me one thing I love the most of this old platform, is the big flow of information that never ends.  This is like a live class. Before being a fully paid member, I was able to read comments of all the videos, and it makes all more interesting and useful.  All are very linked enough to be clear and let our creative juices grow more and more! This is why I have completely subscribed now, and this is why I really love your site and consider it the best of its kind. please, keep all always linked, keep up your friendship, your humor and keep up the great job! thanks for the opportunity to be part of the best PCT group! big hugs.

  40. Cindy Lietz, 05 July, 2015

Thank you so much Janet for your heart felt comment! You bring up an excellent point… the Pdfs should be very helpful for those who use English as their second language. I know that I can read a lot more French than I can understand when listening. (The only French I know is from school, so it is very limited.) The video as well as the Pdfs will be a great support to each other. Glad to have you here on this journey with us!

  41. Norieta kawewehi, 04 July, 2015

Aloha Cindy and Doug. Thank you for all of the exciting updates you are doing for us! I love the idea of the PDFs and am looking forward to peeking into your studio and following you through the creation processes as you do them. Anything worth having is worth waiting for and I am so looking forward to October. Those roses are waiting for you too! Aloha, norieta

  42. Judy H, 05 July, 2015

    hi Cindy,
    great idea!
I hope that you’ll include the color mixes and palettes that disappear at the end of each month in the pDFs too. I find that if I’m out of the country and don’t get home in time to grab them through my email, poof they’re gone.
    Judy

  43. Doug Lietz, 05 July, 2015

Hi Judy… since Cindy stepped in for me above with the question from Dixie Ann… I’ll take this one.

In regards to the recipe cards you are referring to, they won’t actually be included in the new PDF’s that are being added to the new membership site. Those ones are from the B-series collection, which is made up of palettes that we’ve been gifting to anyone who subscribes to the Friday email newsletters. In other words, they have never actually been part of your “paid” membership.

And on that note, now would be a good time to let everyone know that there will be some significant changes happening with the color recipes in general. Some of you will love the upcoming changes…. while others maybe not so much.

Over the past couple of years, we have noticed an obvious decline in the level of interest with the recipe cards… at least with how they are currently being presented. We have also been receiving a lot emails from clayers who want to buy just the color recipes… but not the videos.

So in order for us to accommodate everyone as best we can, in the new membership site platform, our color recipe “product line” will no longer be bundled together with the tutorial videos. This will allow us to do a major “2.0” overhaul of Cindy’s PcT Color Palettes… that will make them much nicer to use. Hint… PDFs, Photography, Journaling Cards.

I know many of you have been collecting the original “1.0” index cards for a long time now… which is great! They will continue to be a valuable asset in your studio(s).

Now for those of you who HAVE been getting good value from the PcT recipe index cards… please be sure to download them to your computer hard drive as soon as possible. As a paid member, you have 24-7 access to all of your current A-series cards… AND… you also have all summer to grab them before the new membership site launches in October. The second video in the blog post above, shows you how to download the recipe cards, if you don’t already know how to do that.

And for those of you who are in the “may-not-love-this-so-much” camp, please remember that we will be doing our best to add in other value components that did not previously exist. For example, one of the big additions is lifetime access to your videos… even if you decide to cancel your subscription. Currently when members cancel, you actually lose access to the videos in your library account, because it your ongoing subscription dues that cover the cost of streaming the videos. With the new site, we will be restructuring our hosting arrangements so that that video bandwidth will no longer be an issue. In other words, we will finally be able to give everyone lifetime access!

  44. Doreen Neilley, 06 July, 2015

    Doug,
I read ALL of the comments in this thread, so that I wouldn’t be taking up your time (hint hint – get cracking on loading all the stuff onto the new site! LOL just kidding – I add my “please take the time to smell your roses this summer” plea to everyone else’s) with something that was already answered, but I didn’t see this if it was there.

I think I understand that you are changing the format of the colour recipes for the future, in that they are probably going to be included in the PDF rather than as an index card. Works for me, because I transcribe every recipe to my own system anyway. :)

Am I correct in understanding that the Back Issues section is going to be available as it is now, but in an upgraded web site (easier to access, etc). So the previous colour recipes are still going to be available in the Back Issues section in some format (whether index cards or some other way), in case we buy some of those that we don’t have, in the future?

I have about 20 or 25 of the tutorial PDFs that I sent you an example of, if you want them as a shortcut to getting up and running. I will NOT be offended if you then create your own PDFs of those tutorials to replace them, as you will be able to take better photos and transcripts than I could get with the screen shots. I would have offered this by email, but understand that the less emails you get the better for a while. :) Just let me know.

Roll on October! And seriously, do take some time for yourselves.

  45. Cindy Lietz, 07 July, 2015

Hi Doreen, I don’t know how much time we will have for ourselves over the Summer but we’ll try and squeeze in a Margarita or two :)

I think you are a little confused about how the color recipes will be working in the future. SO I will take a stab at trying to explain it.

Like I told Catalina in another thread… there are going to be some changes as to how the color recipes will be going out with the new site. We are completely revamping the recipes too… new printable format with pictures and new cards… updated recipes… all around a prettier and more usable format. But they will be separate from the Video Volumes (with separate pricing too), and no longer included with each Video Volume.

There will no longer be an A-series and a B-series after Vol-086 either… but we still will likely give away some free color recipes in out Friday Newsletter each week.

Doug and I have put a lot of thought into how best to make all of these new changes moving forward, putting as many people’s best interest in mind as possible.

There will be some that won’t like the change, there always is, but we feel that so many of you will love it so much better, that it will far out way the negative ones.

You should make sure to download and copy all of your A recipes now though, because when the new site launches, they will no longer be there.

And in regards to the PDF’s that you are wanting to share… they will still fit in quite nicely. Your PDF’s are more interpretive… and ours will be word for word transcripts with lots of screen capture images taken directly from the videos.

  46. Janet T., 08 July, 2015

…”and ours will be word for word transcripts with lots of screen capture images” What a great idea! I made transcripts in the past, and is a marathon work on your part to us. Thank you!! :)

  47. Doreen Neilley, 12 July, 2015

    Cindy and Doug,
So the back issue recipes (I get confused as to which are A and which are B) that we currently don’t own won’t be available in the future for purchase? So if there are some that we want to purchase, we better do it *now* (“why wait for Spring, doooo it noooow da da dum da”). I didn’t order some of the recipes palettes that I am interested in the other day because I was going to order the tutorials that they went with, and was waiting until you finished the change-over rather than burden you with an order in the meantime. So, NOT a good idea? Order the tutorials now and download the recipes before they disappear from the site?

Geez, hope I can find the piece of paper that I wrote it all down on! ;(

Thanks for being understanding about my uncertainty.

  48. Doreen Neilley, 06 July, 2015

For anyone who is despairing thinking about writing down all of the issues that you own, save yourself some time.

    Use COPY AND PASTE!

Most of you probably know how to do this, but for anyone who doesn’t I will describe baby steps.

Open a blank Word document. You can probably do this in other word processing programs but I don’t know the exact steps for other programs.

Go to the Dashboard and My membership the way that Cindy showed us in her video. Position your cursor at the top left corner of your list. Now hold down your major mouse button (for me it is my left button, but some of you may have changed that depending on how you work), and move the cursor down and to the right until the entire list is highlighted.

Let the button up, leaving the area highlighted.

Now click, at the same time, CTRL (control) and the letter key C.

Go to your blank Word document. Click into it so that you get a blinking (well, mine blinks) cursor. Click CTRL and the letter key V. (NOT CTRL – P because that would be the Print command)

What you copied from your “I own it” list should show up in the Word document. SAVE IT!! (Use CTRL – S)

Then I had to fiddle with the column widths so that I could see it all, but I can describe that separately if someone doesn’t know how.

I hope that this saves someone a bit of time and hand cramps!!!!

  49. Jocelyn C, 06 November, 2015

Invaluable. Thank you for taking the time to break this down in steps!!!

  50. Joni Campbell, 11 July, 2015

Simply put…you guys are the BEST!! Looking forward to being able to print off the instructions so I can take them out the my studio as I do not have a computer out there and can not seem to get your videos to pull up on my kindle. I spend too much time running back and forth to the house and the studio. Thanks again!

  51. Doug Lietz, 11 July, 2015

Hi Joni… in regards to your Kindle… here is a tip from another member (Gina Adrian) who discovered a trick to get the videos to play on her device…

“Cindy, Some time ago, I contacted Doug because I couldn’t watch your videos on my Kindle. He tried so to figure out why, and the mystery is solved. This is a newer Kindle Fire HD. When I open you site, and tap on the bottom when viewing the screen vertically, there is an icon that looks like a washboard. If I tap on that icon, I can touch request an alternative view. When I tell it mobile view, the videos play just fine. I thought someone else might contact him with the same problem and knowing this would save him a step or two. Thanks. Gina”

  52. Dixie Ann, 12 July, 2015

Hi guys, went through and checked out all my videos and just want to thank you for the three you gave me to view to add to my library that I did not have.
Would have loved to see the “Behind the Scenes” Video’s but I also appreciated your wanting us to be able to view these throughout the summer.
Thanks again for all you do for us. I don’t quite understand this “lifetime” subscription thing but I’m sure you will explain it all in the coming weeks. Have a good summer!

  53. Doug Lietz, 13 July, 2015

Hi Dixie Ann – the “lifetime access” means you would still get to keep access to your video collection, even if you decided to cancel your subscription. You just would not be able to receive any new release videos.

Currently if someone were to quit, they would no long be able to access their library account… which obviously is not the most ideal situation. It is setup like that now, because of how the bandwidth costs work. I’ll be restructuring our video hosting in the new system to address this issue.

In regards to getting access to the “Behind The Scenes” videos, you are only 6 videos shy of a full deck… so it won’t take much for you to get yourself qualified. If you did want to purchase the remainder of the videos, they are all posted at the Members Library Back-Issues link.

  54. Doreen Neilley, 12 July, 2015

Had a few minutes so zoomed to my emails to get the Friday recipes before they disappeared from my account. Got a bit frantic because I couldn’t find them. Then I remembered that there won;’t be any emails until October. Really happy about the web site upgrades, but I wonder how many other Lietz Groupies are having momentary heart palpitations because they can’t find the Friday email and think they they missed it somehow, for those few moments before they remember??!!

  55. Doreen Neilley, 13 July, 2015

Okay, can I just say that the heat got to my brain? Went back to my emails today and there are the 086 recipes. Mea culpa.

  56. Doug Lietz, 13 July, 2015

Yes… the Friday emails will still be going out. They are kind of a tradition around here :-)

  57. Peg Carter, 13 July, 2015

I’ve know Dixie Ann was shy of a full deck for awhile, but I didn’t think anyone would mention it! LOL

  58. Doug Lietz, 14 July, 2015

OK… I just found this article from the Smithsonian Magazine… :-)

“Crazy? No, Just One Card Shy of a Full Deck. I had become what every New Yorker secretly longs to be, a harmless, amusing eccentric.”

    By Roy Sorrels, Smithsonian Magazine

  59. Dixie Ann, 14 July, 2015

Yep, I guess that’s me. I’m gonna be 6 videos short forever I guess. The article was really fun to read. How do you find these things! You always have such clever answers Doug.

  60. Dixie Ann, 14 July, 2015

Sweet Peg, I hope you read Dougs Link to the Smithsonian Magazine. How clever was that response and so true!
Love ya gal. PS. your canes are lookin good!

  61. Peg Carter, 14 July, 2015

I laughed so hard when I read his post. Clever indeed!

  62. Maria Haddock, 17 July, 2015

Will the new web page have a cart view? I have looked everywhere, but cannot find what I am ordering to make changes. If this option is not available, can you include “view cart” someone easy to find on the new web page?

  63. Doug Lietz, 17 July, 2015

Hi Maria – Yes we are working on making it much easier to purchase.

Dreams do come true. :) I have wanted a way to print out the tutorials to take in my craft room or dvd’s to add to my workshop since I was a member. I am a bit “cornfused” about some of the changes but I will play along and will figure it out. I know most don’t like change but change is good and I am sure I will love it.

  65. Laurie W, 23 July, 2015

WOW! I have been absolutely not looking forward to losing any of the tutorials. God knows. I knew my time was drawing near to the 5 year mark. What you and Doug are doing is phenomenal. God is so awesome to put this in your hearts to do. You are awesome for doing it. All I can say is THANK YOU! It means a lot to me.

  66. Krithika P, 23 July, 2015

I’m loving the idea of a transcript. What would also be useful for me (though I could get this from the transcript of course) is a list of materials needed and the rough amounts. For instance 1 oz of Antique gold clay, 2 oz of Peacock pearl. That way I know exactly what I need to get ready and what to add to my shopping list if I don’t have a specific brand. Kind of like the ingredients list in a recipe :)

    Hi Cindy and Doug,

As usual, you two always seem to be looking for better, more up to date ways to inhance your site. Thank you for all of your hard work! I do have a request/suggestion, though I don’t know if it is possible. Is there a way to add a search feature to the membership video library page? I think it would be nice (not to mention time efficient) to be able to search for a video, vs, copying down all the vidoes in my collection or searching through pages to locate the one I want.

Thanks again for all you do,
    Jan

  68. Doug Lietz, 24 July, 2015

Yes … making it easier to search is definitely on the todo list :-)

  69. Angela McDorman, 24 July, 2015

Hi Doug and Cindy – I have a question I haven’t seen addressed. With the new format coming soon of lifetime ownership – will those (like me) who used to have membership but had to drop it for financial or other reasons – will we be able to access once again the issues we had bought but then lost when our membership expired? I didn’t own many compared to some of your members but I sure would like to regain access to the ones I’d previously purchased. Thank you in advance for taking time to reply and I send best wishes for smooth sailing on your expansion :) Angela

  70. Doug Lietz, 24 July, 2015

    Hi Angela,

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to re-activate expired accounts. In the current system, when someone cancels, your account history gets purged. This policy is posted clearly on our become-a-member page… but in addition to this, we do our very best to make sure that outgoing members review the cancellation terms and conditions, before accounts are actually cancelled.

Our current cancellation policy has never been one that we’ve liked very much… which is another BIG reason why we are moving to a new platform.

The new platform will allow subscribers to keep access to the videos that had been uploaded to their accounts during the course of their membership term, even if they decide to stop their subscription payments. That is what “lifetime” access means.

  71. Angela McDorman, 25 July, 2015

Thanks for answering so quickly Doug. As always ya’lol are right on top of things. I knew what the ‘rules’ were but I was hoping something might have changed ;) Nice to know that if my financial status changes and I can someday become a member again I won’the lose what I purchase. The new changes are going to be a very good thing. Also, if I’may understanding correctly it looks like we’lol have the opportunity to purchase color recioes. I’very long wished we could do that so yay, great move ????

  72. Doug Lietz, 25 July, 2015

Thanks for understanding, Angela. Unfortunately, in spite of our best efforts to explain the reasoning for how certain things had to be set up (in the past), it is more common for people to lash out when they don’t get what they want. You on the other hand, have always been kind and I just wanted to let you know that Cindy and I appreciate it. Actually, we’d like to extend this thank you to all of our (many) kind members… especially as we work through this current transition period.

  73. Rebecca Chisenhall, 07 August, 2015

Hey Cindy and Doug: I’m not sure whether my question has been asked or not (even though I promise I looked through the previous fairly carefully!), so I’ll ask: Will we be able to buy back issues AFTER the new platform comes out in October, or do we have to do it beforehand? The reason I am asking is I think I will be shy 10 issues after your gifting of 3, but I really can’t scrounge up that much money at once, and may take me a while at that. Thanks for answering! I can’t wait to see the new format and PDFs!

  74. Doug Lietz, 07 August, 2015

Hi Rebecca… yes the back issues will be available after the switch… but they will be more expensive and they won’t include the color recipes… 2 reasons… our current site “re-construction” project is proving to be quite the costly endeavor… and it’s come time to bring our prices in line with what others are charging for their tutorials.

So… your best bet is to buy the back issues now, if it is at all possible… or at least get as many as you can, while the prices are still low.

  75. Michelle A, 21 August, 2015

So, is the membership fee going up? If so, will longtime members be grandfathered into current prices?

  76. Doug Lietz, 21 August, 2015

    Yes and Yes :-)

  77. Michelle A, 21 August, 2015

Thanks Doug. I’m enjoying the back issues I received, I’ve been wanting to see those and now I have them – woohoo! :o)

  78. Doug Lietz, 21 August, 2015

    Perfect!

  79. Dixie Ann, 12 August, 2015

Hi Cindy and Doug, I just want everyone to know to double check their receipes and make sure they have them ALL downloaded and saved. I kind of brushed it off when I first heard of the changes because I am right there to save them when they come out. But, you know what! life gets in the way and I got to thinking about it, decided to go do a quick check and couldn’t believe how many I had managed to forget. From Volume No. 1 through Volume 86 minus the 6 videos I am short I missed a lot of them! I can say after checking all volumes I now have all of them safely saved and backed up. Whew!
So everyone, don’t put this on the back burner. October will be here before you know it and Once the receipes are gone, they are gone! you can’t get them back! Hope your summer is going well and you can take some selfie time!

  80. Doug Lietz, 13 August, 2015

Words of wisdom Dixie Ann. Great Advice!

  81. Anna F, 29 August, 2015

Wait a minute… if you are taking away the colours from us, does that mean members who have been long standing members will now have to pay for two memberships to get their colours?? That doesn’t seem very fair to the people who have been supporting you all along. I would assume you are considering a MASSIVE discount for the colours for people who already subscribe. I mean it’s an ingenious way to increase the membership costs without actually announcing that way but I am not paying for two memberships. I must say I am very concerned about this change. Yes, I do want the colours (A’s and B’s) but a significant increase in my membership fees to do so when I have been been around so long.. grrrr that’s more than a bit frustrating. It’s like when you go to the grocery store and you want to buy bacon.,. so there it is at the usual price only it’s now only 350 instead of 500, or the jar of pasta that is the same price yet amazingly 1/3 less sauce. People stopped buying those brands of bacon and they went back up to the normal size again.

I really don’t want my costs for membership increased Doug and Cindy and I am sure a lot of others feel the same way.

  82. Doug Lietz, 30 August, 2015

    Hi Anna,

    Thanks for your comment.

We actually have not yet decided if we are going to do a separate membership offer for the color recipes, or not. However, we will be selling downloadable PDF’s of the recipes, for those who are interested.

Here are the two primary reasons why the color recipes will be sold separately…

    1) For a long time now, we have been getting many requests from clayers who just want to buy the recipes, and don’t want the video tutorials. So it has come time to give this segment of the market, what they are asking for.

    2) Plus… in general, the level of interest for the color recipes from all of the current subscribing members, has actually been steadily dropping off over the past couple of years. If you look back at the early color recipe posts here at the blog, there was always lots of enthusiastic comments when the new palettes were announced each month. But now, hardly anyone says anything. It’s kind of like the writing was on the wall for this change to happen (separating the videos from the color recipes).

Will we be able to please everyone all of the time? Unfortunately not. But we are trying to be as fair as possible.

For example, one of the significant additions which I don’t think has been fully understood yet, is the lifetime access feature (coming soon). It means that even if you decide to cancel your membership (knock on wood), and stop making your subscription payments, you will still get to retain access to the videos that had been added to your library account during your time as a member. We have been trying to figure out a way to make this happen for a long time, and it is finally going to become a reality.

  83. Jocelyn C, 06 November, 2015

    Doug

Any guestimate how much longer we have to download the color recipes before the new site?

Leave it to me to procrastinate…..

    Thanks!

  84. Chrissie F, 06 November, 2015

Jocelyn! You still haven’t done it? I am shocked! (just kidding LOL)

Do it now, girl. Like today. If you leave it to the very last minute you might miss some in your haste.

    Procrastinate no more! :-))

  85. Jocelyn C, 06 November, 2015

I shall go forth. Thanks to Doreen, lol. Eight days in Michigan, my head is finally starting to clear, I come here, and panic. Story of my life. ROFL!!!

  86. Doug Lietz, 06 November, 2015

    Yes… what Chrissie said!

  87. Doreen Neilley, 31 August, 2015

    Hey, Doug,
OLD COLOUR RECIPES: We have all seen the comments about how the old colour recipes are going to “disappear” once the new site is up. Does this mean that they won’t be available AT ALL in any format? So if someone new discovers the site, the recipes that were used in a tutorial video won’t be available for them to purchase? For example, the Pansy cane tutorial uses the Johnny Jump-Up palette. Or, if those of us who have a number of the tutorials but not all of them, and we decide in the future that we would like to fill out our library a bit more by buying back issues, then the colour recipes that went with those tutorials won’t exist? You know that I bought a BUNCH of back issues to be able to get the recipes as well, but couldn’t afford to get all of them at this point. Just trying to clarify the situation for myself.

NEW COLOUR RECIPES: Having read Anna’s comments, I’d like to give you my 2 cents worth, although being Canadian, that’s only about 1.5 cents US, as you would know! :( I completely understand that you and Cindy need to look at your costs and income. I also need to look at my costs. If the tutorials and recipes are going to be separated, I am going to have to look at the new costs, and I will have to decide whether I can afford both, or whether I will have to go with the tutorials only, especially if the Canadian dollar falls much more against the US. I know that you guys are doing your best to make this work for us, as well as yourselves, and you must be pulling your hair out trying to figure out all of the ramifications of doing this or doing that. Are you looking at a price reduction if we go with both the tutorials and the recipes as against what they would be separately? Or possibly that is something that you are still working out.

Glad it’s you guys and not me working all of this out!

  88. Doug Lietz, 01 September, 2015

The color recipes will still be available… in a new PDF format available for purchasing separately.

And for the most part, even though the original back issues include an A-series color palette, the color recipes in the palettes were not used in the actual tutorial. In the few cases where there might be an exception to this rule, we will be sure to include any specific color recipes as needed.

In regards to pricing and bundling and all that hair-pulling-out stuff… we are still working out the details.

  89. Tammy M, 01 September, 2015

I was actully thinking of signing up, as I am new to polymer clay. How would this effect a new user? Would I just have no videos until the switch over? But I would get the cheaper rate? Will you be selling single videos at some point rather then having to buy an entire set of them?

  90. Doug Lietz, 01 September, 2015

    Hi Tammy,

If you sign up before the switch over, you will still get the normal amount of videos added to your account…. as back dated Volumes. So… yes… it is a good time to sign up now before the prices go up for new members.

In regards to purchasing single Back Issue Volumes, you can actually do that now… at this link… Polymer Clay Tutor Back Issues

For the Back Issues from Vol-001 to Vol-050, where there are 4 separate tutorials bundled together in one package, those one cannot be split up. But… they are currently priced at only $9.95 per Volume (again… a good time to buy… before the prices go up ;-)

  91. Tammy M, 02 September, 2015

Maybe I am confused at your response but I only see any of the volumes bundled for the $9.95 each. I was wondering if there will be a way to just buy one particular video. I’d rather pay $3 for one video than $10 if I only plan to watch the one video. Maybe you only sell them in $10 volumes but it was worth asking.

Also will your new site be taking PayPal? I get nervous about handing out my credit card info on the internet

  92. Doug Lietz, 03 September, 2015

    Hi Tammy,

Sorry if my previous response confused you.

When the new site is launched, the four videos in the current Volume Bundles you are seeing, will in fact be available for individual purchase, but they won’t be priced at just $3 … don’t know the exact pricing yet… but they will cost significantly more.

And in regards to PayPal, that payment option is already available at the current site… and it will also be available at the new site.

  93. Rebecca Chisenhall, 02 September, 2015

Do you know when I (and others) may expect the 3 back issues to be added to my account? Thanks!

  94. Doug Lietz, 03 September, 2015

Hi Becky – I have already managed to get all of the back dating done. So… everyone is good to go :-)

  95. Iris A, 05 September, 2015

Why not create one giant color recipe book; make it for sale in pdf format.

Give existing customers a big discount during the first three months of the new site being live. (This gives people who’ve already invested in back issues time to make this additional purchase.)

Then pull the color palettes for all future tutorials from that collection of recipes. That way clayers can either buy the book as a supplement to the tutes, or simply make up their own colors.

If a new color gets added then offer the updates for free like most other ebook publishers.

  96. Doug Lietz, 05 September, 2015

Thanks for your input and suggestions Iris. We are still working through all the details about how to set up and price the color recipes at the new site… but there will be options for downloading individual palette’s (PDF’s) as well as bundles.

  97. Karen S, 18 October, 2015

    Hi Doug

When the color palettes are re-formatted for the new site, will they still have a reference to the old tutorials that they were originally paired with? I only ask this so that once the new site is up I will be able to tell whether I own a palette or not. Thanks in advance!

    Karen

  98. Doug Lietz, 18 October, 2015

Hi Karen… we are completely separating the color recipes from the video tutorials over at the new site… but the names of the palettes won’t change… so you will be able to cross reference that way.

  99. Karen S, 19 October, 2015

    Great, thanks Doug :)
