Cindy Lietz uses beadmaking treasure hunt to trick unsuspecting polyclay’ers into learning… instead of just having fun:
OK you caught me! Here you guys thought the bead treasures contest on my blog was all about innocent fun and winning great prizes. But in actuality, I’ve been tricking you into learning valuable lessons, directions and instructions for making polymer clay beads!
Mawwahaha! This is one of those evil tricks a mother or teacher pulls on their kids… you know the one about making education fun! And it worked!
Here’s what just some of the participants of my Summer Polymer Clay Contest – Online Bead Treasure Hunt are saying so far:
“Thanks so much for the fun game! And it was educational as well. Bonus!! I have spent a lot of time on your site and I thank-you for putting the time and effort into it! I started “playing” around with clay, and now love it! I love learning new things to improve on what I am doing! Have a great day.” ~Kam
“Finished the hunt. Lots of fun Cindy and even learned a bit, like baking on Cornstarch, wow. Gosh, I thought I was a pro and knew everything, lol, not! Love your site.” ~Tina
“I just finished the treasure hunt. The clues led me to new articles that I hadn’t read since my last visit. That of course leads me to notice other new articles and before you know it, I’ve been surfing your site for hours! Great articles as always and I’m looking forward to hearing more from you.” ~Cynister
“THANKS for doing this. I am not sure if I would have gone thru them all otherwise and even a old dog (I use both old and dog lightly) needs to get back to the basics. You also stirred some (different) creativity for which to go try. THANKS!!” ~Angela
“Over the years I have thrown away so much clay because I just couldn’t figure out something I was doing wrong and years ago there was not that much info out there and not the internet either. Thanks once more, and the Treasure Hunt has been great idea. I don’t usually comment much just read but not this time, and it’s been fun. Keep us on our toes!!!!” ~Yvonne
“I finished, and thoroughly enjoyed the treasure hunt. I learned so much today along the way! I found many pages that I had not seen before, and I had to read them all!!.” ~Cindy

“Thanks for a fun treasure hunt. I bookmarked several articles to read later – this is such an eclectic and expansive art / craft – in some ways it’s more of a lifestyle than a hobby! Thanks for your amazing site!” ~Sue
“Found the treasure chests, treasure indeed! Your entire website is a blessing!” ~Karen
“YaY!! I finished your treasure hunt!! Thank you so much for doing that. I had no idea you had such great information. Even though I feel have the basics down, it was very interesting to read some of your articles. I plan on going back and reading a bunch more!! You rock Cindy!!” ~Krista

Pretty tricky Cindy :) I wish all of my teachers in the past had been even half as tricky :) and inspiring as you are!!! Thank you for teaching me soooooooo much!!! I come back every day because I know there is always something else that I can learn on your site that I missed the last time around :)
Hey, Teacher…you can give out homework to me any day!:)
Cindy Erickson
Alright Cindy, you asked for it!! Your polymer clay assignment for today is: Get some clay and play!
You heard me right! Play with your clay! Just fool around with it for an hour or two with no particular project in mind.
Roll it. Squish it. Stamp it. Mix it. Dye it. Make little snakes with it. Put stuff in it. Shape it. Re-shape it. And repeat.
During this ‘play’ time, new ideas will spring into your mind and a you won’t be feeling the pressure of getting it right. Then the next time you sit down to make something nice, it will just flow out of you… Give it a try, it works!

Hi Cindy,
I am so happy that I decided to buy your basic course. I never used
polymer clay before and it gave me all the information I needed to start.
I love learning through videos and yours are just perfect. They are not too long and explain every step so clearly. You have a gift for teaching.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
