Polymer Clay Color Recipes | Bluebell Palette [Premo Sculpey]

Bluebell Polymer Clay Color Palette 1A: Bluebell
2A:
Moondrops
3A: Electric Blue
4A: Azure Nights

There is something about this time of the year which causes a deep yearning for the fresh beauty that the upcoming Spring will bring.

This need for color and new life is so strong, that Greenhouses force the issue by having spring flowers ready and in the garden centers, long before it is even safe to put them outside in the soil. In fact in our area, there have been potted Primulas, Daffodils and Tulips available since sometime in January!

Well… us bead and jewelry designers like to push the calendar ahead as well, by bringing out Spring colors and ideas, well before the season officially arrives.

So, if the gloom of endless days of rain (like is happening here in Vancouver) or too much snow (like there has been in the Central, Eastern and even bizarrely in some Southern sections of North America) is getting you down… then this lively Spring Color Palette will be the perfect pick-me-up for you!

Inspired by the amazingly rich shades of Blue of this Bluebell photo, taken by Doug in our garden last Spring. The recipes for this color palette will be added to the Polymer Clay Members Library during the month of Mar-2011 in Vol-034 [A-Series]:

  • Bluebell (Recipe 034-1A)
  • Moondrops (Recipe 034-2A)
  • Electric Blue (Recipe 034-3A)
  • Azure Nights (Recipe 034-4A)

Bluebell represents the shimmering Light Blue of the highlights in the petals of this Bluebell blossom. Moondrops is the softer deeper Blue of the lowlights in the bloom. Electric Blue is the striking, electrifying Blue of the stamen of this flower. And Azure Nights is the deep Purple Blue of the stem of this small but incredible flower.

More beautiful colors, Cindy. Looking forward to working with them. Nature is truly awesome and it is so wonderful to have you tuned in and sharing all the splendor. Thank you. ~Joyce-M

Hi, I have been doing polymer clay for awhile now and have seen a few color charts but I think your recipes are the best I’ve seen. I was having a hard time figuring out how to get the purple I wanted and then I seen your blog. A friend of mine had sent me the link to your videos and I have enjoyed every one of them so far. Thanks for being such a great person. ~Linda-G

Love the colors…so beautiful. I too, like the other posters am amazed at how you can pull these colors out of the pictures… you make it look so easy :) ~Laura-R

@Natalie H: You are at the “regular blog site” right now. The other site where all my paid videos are posted, is what is referred to as the “Library” site. The link by my name just above will take you to an article that will provide you with some valuable navigation tips for both this blog as well as for the library site.

What a beautiful palette! Love those colors. I’m learning from you Cindy how to look at something and pick out the colors. At the moment I have this huge bouquet (Valentine’s Day) with these gorgeous flowers and the colors are so beautiful. I’ve taken photos and will post them on my blog.

  17. Mary, 18 February, 2011

Gorgeous blues, thank you Cindy. By the way, hot on the heels of your Aurora technique video, I hear Mother Nature is putting on a special show for you folks in northerly latitudes. The Aurora Borealis is (or will be) visible in coming hours in most of Canada and even in Scotland due to unusually fierce solar flares (or something!). Did you see those Northern Lights? Mary

  18. Cindy Lietz, 20 February, 2011

@Mary: Yes I had heard that too Mary! Unfortunately we are not North enough to see the Northern Lights here in Vancouver. But I am sure all those in the Northern communities are thrilled about the Aurora Borealis activity this year.
