One of the most darling things about our 17 year old daughter Willow, is that she LOVES old trucks. Doesn’t matter if the paint is faded… if there’s a little rust over the wheel well… or if a dint or two is on the tailgate. She just loves them!
This cute old Dodge Pickup is one that Doug took a photo of on our trip through Washington, Idaho and Oregon last year. It will always make me think of my dear young daughter whenever I see it.
Willow is saving up to buy herself a truck right now, and spends hours on Craigslist and AutoTrader looking for one within her budget. She just graduated from High School and is working towards a career in Real Estate. A local Realtor has already hired her, so she does need a vehicle to get to work in… and also for driving to College where she’ll be doing selected studies in her field. She should probably be thinking of something better on gas, like a cute little hatchback or something, but Willow is determined to get a truck.
And this old Dodge would be perfect… even more so if it were a Ford or a Chevy! But it is Blue and White (which is her favorite truck color combo)… its old, and… well… it’s a truck! It even looks like it has a gun rack… for when she suddenly takes up hunting!
It’s not like she is a country girl or anything. I mean she is at heart… loves trucks and country music… but she actually lives in the city. So of course none of her friends can relate. But Willow is Willow and her mind is not easily swayed.
Here’s a song from Doug’s past that always reminds us of Little Willow’s strong personality… although I’m pretty sure “Little Willy” in the song is not a girl. No matter.

… Dodge Pickup is the wonderful sky blue of this old vintage truck. Tinted Windshield is the soft green blue of the glass windshield. Chrome Trim is the color of the old pitted chrome trim along the sides, in the grill and on the bumper of this ol’ gal. And Blinkers is the awesome bright orange of the signal lights… the perfect pop to the soft blue palette.
Oh, Cindy! Such a giving and loving family! I for one, would never leave you!!!!!!!! I love your palettes, though I don’t use all of them. I do make samples of each and every color. Love doing that. ~Patt-W
After taking Maggio Maggio’s Smashing Color Class in Portland Oregon I now understand the how to’s of mixing colors a whole lot more. I also understand that you take time in making your palettes and I appreciate your hard work. I also understand now how to make colors using cobalt blue, zinc yellow and magenta. I also understand the fact that you take the time to give us colors that are available by Premo so we can better use the product. Thank you so much for the hard work you put into everything. Had so much fun reading this well written article. Willow is my kind of girl, wish her all the best as she chooses a career and moves out on her own. I sure love her choice of vehicles, except for the gas money to run those old bombs.
If she is willing to take a maintenance course or get the official manual for them, they can be quite easy to fix, especially the everyday stuff. A little restoration, and in a few years she’s have a gorgeous antique.
Cindy those colors are great, wow, they pop.
You are so darned clever with your color combo’s. This one is no exception. As for Willow, well….you can take the girl out of the country……but you can’t take the country out of the girl. Willow is Willow and we wouldn’t want her to be anybody else! Good luck to her truck hunting and her future employment endeavers.
