Snowy Mountains Polymer Clay Color Palette

Deep Pine Forest | Craggy Mountain | Winter Sky | Snow Banks:

As I write this, it is a beautiful clear day with a fresh blanket of white snow covering the landscape outside my studio window. Usually our winter weather here in Vancouver is rainy, so this cold clear spell is a very nice change. Everyone is hopeful that it will last through to Christmas. Yeah!!!

Anyway as you can see, the color palette picture for today is fitting. My husband (Doug) took the background photo during one of our recent family outings to the local mountains (Mount Baker… if you happen to know this area).

So in celebration of Winter, I decided to use the colors from the snowy mountain scene to create four new polymer clay recipes. They will be added to the Members Library shortly:

  • Deep Pine Forest
  • Craggy Mountain
  • Winter Sky
  • Snow Banks

Deep Pine Forest is a deep dark, almost black green, inspired by the distant pine trees in the photo. Craggy Mountain is a deeper grey blue reminiscent of the granite mountainside. Winter Sky is a light grey blue and Snow Banks is a sparkly off-white color, fashioned after the snow.

Hi Cindy,

Great Picture!! I really appreciate the inclusion of the color palette samples against the picture so that we can see the color against the source of inspiration for it. Hope you will make this a feature from now on. Really makes it more informative and inspiring for us to try our hand at it.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

MJ

Cindy I have a question. I'm getting ready to go shopping for back issues and I started cutting out my color recipes I had downloaded through the last few weeks. I found Tropical Leaf recipe in one of the treasure hunts. To save paper I sometimes flip the paper over and copy on the other side. I didn't pay attention and copied it behind my private recipe and I want to download it again so I can cut the two out. I hope this makes since. My question is, which group of Blogs is that recipe in or is it too late and it has been deleted from all the blogs.

@MJ: Thanks for your comments about the new picture format. I'm glad it is helpful for you. My plan is to continue doing that :) – Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!

@Mary Ellen: Not a problem… I will email you the link to the blog post with the Tropical Leaf recipe clue. I'm glad to hear you are using the recipe cards.

Diddo what MJ commented on. I really like the picture format with the palette samples because it can inspire you to create using that particular palette of colors. Sometimes you have the color cards in front of you and it takes awhile to decide how you will incorporate them into your piece whether it be jewelry or something else. Thanks so much and looking forward to new recipes…keep them coming!

Thanks Lupe! I agree having color sets in palettes is very helpful when deciding on what colors to use in a polymer clay project! You can look forward to many more palettes like this in the future!
