1-A: Speed Boat
2-A: Aquamarine
3-A: Pinstripe
4–A: Wake Foam
I know that January isn’t exactly the time of year that you would normally associate with a vintage speed boat sitting at a dock on the lake… but when looking through the gallery of Doug’s photos and deciding on a color palette for this wintry time of the year… the icy turquoise hues, plus the cool grays and whites of this photo, seemed like the perfect winter palette to me! Besides, it does make you think of warmer days to come, doesn’t it?
I hope you enjoy this beautiful Winter/Summer 2014 color palette for the Vol-068-A recipe series!
The following Vol-068 A-series Speed Boat Color Palette will be added to the Polymer Clay Members Library at the beginning of January 2014:
- Speed Boat (Recipe 068-1A)
- Aquamarine (Recipe 068-2A)
- Pinstripe (Recipe 068-3A)
- Wake Foam (Recipe 068-4A)

… Speed Boat is the vibrant turquoise shade of this awesome vintage speed boat, parked at the dock on the lake at a campsite in Cor D’Alene Idaho. Aquamarine is the darker teal color of the tarpaulin, protecting the interior of the vessel from the elements. Pinstripe is the soft gray of the racing stripes down the side of the boat. And Wake Foam is the color of the top side of the pleasure craft, as well as the color of the foamy wake the boat leaves behind as it speeds through the water.
Simply fabulous, Cindy, I learn more from you about color than I have anywhere else. Thank you so much! ~Jocelyn-C
Love the colours! What’s great about being on the other side of the world to you guys is that when it is our autumn (fall) and winter, it is your spring and summer and all the beautiful colours that you guys have come out to play (especially in Cindy’s clay!!) ~Sandra-J
Do I think the membership is worth it? ABSOLUTELY – the colour palettes alone are worth more to me. And the effect on my (sad, underdeveloped) creativity? PRICELESS… I have never seen you strike out, and you sure hit a lot of home runs! ~Monique-U

Thank you! I am a lifelong fan of you too Maria! have a wonderful holiday!
These are some of mine and my daughters favorite colors. So will look forward to mixing them in the New year. Thanks to Cindy,s hard work and Doug’s great photographic skills
Just had a power cut after a really bad storm, but it gave me a chance to light all my Christmas candles (22 of them) . The wind is howling and rain hitting the windows like little bullets but inside it is snug and warm and the candles give a lovely sparkle to the Christmas decorations. So have a Merry Christmas everyone, keep safe and have a lovely holiday and Happy New Year….cheers xx………
Have a warm, safe and cozy Christmas Elaine! I will be thinking of you huddled in the glow of all your Christmas candles. :)
Hi Elaine, so good to hear from you. I hope you weren’t without power for too long. Here in the states, ice, power outage, you name it, cause a lot of Christmas headaches. We had snow and ice but didn’t lose power. Have a happy, healthy New Year!
Hi everyone
First I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year … Hannukah came. Dry all this year .. On Thanksgiving… So those that celebrate it like I do Happy belated Hannukah.. This won’t happen again for another 7900 years .. That right and none of us will be around to see it… Some people make Menotys .. That a Menorah in the shape of a turkey out of polymer clay… I thought of it too late to take advantage of it …. Oh well .. Not worth complaining now about a lack of planning..on a great note.. Sti working on my web site… You can check it out and tell me what you think about it so far…..saftiscreations.com…. Another great thing…. I had been in contact with a local unique toy store… She like my hair barrettes ancestry. I one else had this… Sent her pictures of 50+ items thought it was too much to burden her store counter to show… Sent them twice …Called twice with no answer … Friend come over for me a adapt a salt shake I had designed like a home in Isreal with soil frm there into a Christmas ornament… Told her the sennerio …she told me to go down with my stuff.so I went up to my computer… Printed up up some tags to attach the barrettes… Picked out about a dozen that I thought she would like … Put the on the cards… Decided to bring some of my snowman pins( snowan on red background.. S
He glow in the dark… Decide to take a chance and bring some of my covered pens.. Inserted them into a hand made tag…. Well the rest as they say is history… Her 7 yr old daughter was there and between the two of them she took 6 barrettes, 6 pens and 6,a owman(that’s all I hand with me….better still she tskng them and paying up front… Not on consignment… Lowered the price a little so she can mark it up to approve that would make them sellable ..picking up the $ this mornng… Boy does that validate my work! Thank you Cindy and everyone else for all your
Encouragement….
Again Merry Christmas to all
Hi Natalie, way to go girl! very excited for you with a new customer. You just never know when an opportunity will pop up. Glad to hear things are going well for you. Happy Holidays, wishing you great success in 2014!
Congratulations Natalie!! I am very proud of you! Sometimes it just takes a different approach if you want to be heard. Glad you were persistent. Hope you had a wonderful Hannukah! I hope that this New Year brings you continued success and a happy and healthy life. Thank you so much for being part of our happy little PcT Family!
Merry/Happy Christmas to all!
My name is Marianne but I see there are a few other Mariannes that post, so I’ll go by the name Mari. I’ve been a member since October and have been following all your posts and have learned so much from all of you. It’s like I know you all. I’ve been going to bed with severe eye-strain every night from getting lost in the comments, searches, links, etc.! Must turn the computer monitor up to 175% to read everything.
I live in Northwest suburban Chicago and am fortunate to live within a ten mile radius (five to twenty minute drive) of Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Joanns, Dick Blicks and Harbor Freight Tools. Also Polyform Products—home of Premo. (That would be a good road trip for the Lietz Family)!
I’ve been making jewelry and crafting since I was in my pre-teens (I’ll be 50 next month) but have been making and selling jewelry since 2010. Needed something to keep my sanity while staying home! Like many of the PCT Community I have fibromyalgia and migraines (along with a bunch of other ailments too long to list and too boring to list). Income is limited–still waiting for Disability to be approved. I have made some beads (ok—about 1,000 8mm or 10mm—trying to use up all the Sculpey III) and sculpted pendants from Sculpey III, Fimo, Kato, Premo and baked according to package labels (yes, I know BC (before Cindy) as you say here in the community) and I guess I must go back and re-bake and tent them for another 30 minutes. My Lortone 3a should be coming in this week (a Christmas present to myself) and my microabrasion pads just came in. I hinted at Thanksgiving that I was looking for a rotary tool. All the guys turned into Tim Allen’s ‘Tool Time’ character and said I must get a Dremel—“more power” even though I explained that cured polymer clay is fairly soft. It was pretty funny!! Can’t afford to purchase the plastic and porcelain substrate right now, so will have to tumble the old fashion way with light colored river rocks and buff with old blue jeans. How much of each type of plastic/porcelain substrate do you think I’ll need?? Only found an answer for the vibrating tumbler in the search.
I hope to finally get down to some serious claying around this weekend! Since the week before Thanksgiving I’ve done three craft shows in one week, made 36 necklaces, beaded five Princess Kate bracelets (three more needed after Christmas), four Christmas Candle Center pieces, crocheted four hats, two scarves and a cowl and a partridge in a pair tree! Sorry, wrong song for the last item—I just couldn’t resist!
Thursday I will lay comatose all day—can’t believe I got everything done in time. I’m not sure how I did it or why I did it. My head and my Fibro are killing me.
Sorry I’m so wordy and rambled on so long.
Thank you Cindy, Doug, the Lietz family and the PCT Community.
Have a safe and healthy Christmas!
Marianne H, aka Mari
Hi Mari, welcome to the family. Many of us suffer from one disability or the other so feel right at home. If you need answers to questions don’t forget to use the search function at the top of the blog page, it’s loaded with just about everything. In answer to your substrate, I use about a lb. per each in my Rotary tumbler. In my big vibrating tumbler I would use 2-3 lbs. I usually put my beads in first then my substrate and then add the water so my tumbler has at least one third of space to roll everything around in. I have a dremel and I love it, but I am so ready for the Jool Tool when Cindy gets a kit to recommend for PC.
Like everyone else I hate sanding but have learned a few tricks to cut down my time doing it. Once you get your dremel you can make some super buffing wheels That can do a great job and take the strain off your arms and shoulders. Sounds like you have been a busy bee! Hope you get a nice rest. Happy holidays, Dixie Ann
Hi Mari, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too! I loved reading your message here. Would be great to come see you on a roadtrip one of these times. Will let you know when we are in the area. From the looks of it, our dear sweet Dixie Ann came to your rescue answering your plastic substrate question. Sounds like you are well on your way to making some great polymer clay jewelry! So happy to have you here in our polymer clay family!
Cindy, thanks for the lovely color palette this month. You always seem to put together just the right ones at this time of year! I will have to get busy and mix up some more receipes. It’s amazing how fast they accumulate. I can’t tell you how many times I refer to my big binders of receipes for clay colors.
You are so welcome Dixie Ann! I hope you know how much you mean to me and the rest of our claying community. You are kind, creative, supportive and so helpful to everyone here and I appreciate you stepping in with answers for people when I can’t get to them as fast as I would like.
I wish for you a happy healthy and inspiring 2014! I hope that this summer we will be able to finally get our trailer out to Iowa to see you and the rest of the Midwest Gang.
Thank you so much for being such a loyal member and friend all these years! ~Love Cindy
A warm wish to the Leitz family for a happy, healthy, prosperous New Year. May the wind always be at your back! (((hugs)))
Hi Dixie Ann;
Thanks for the welcome to the community. I really love all your work on the PCT Members photo page.
Also, thanks for the info on the substrate. I use the search a lot and get lost in all the links. There’s so much info in there that sometimes I forget what I was originally searching for! LOL My tumbler should arrive within the next few days. My sister’s family gave me a Dremel 3000 for Christmas. So I’m all ready to start this weekend–no excuses. Like I thought, I pretty much stayed on the sofa and slept on and off all day. Michaels emailed me a coupon for 40% off entire regular price purchase for today only and I had to pass it up. :(
I will slowly start re-baking my beads for the proper time. I can’t wait to start my faux enamel piece with Viking knit and faux agate and opals.
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!!!
Mari
Love this palette! Just got a bit confused on the name of the first color, 1-A. It is Speed Boat? Newsletter has it as Pine wood.
Hope everyone’s new year is off to a good start. Knock on wood mine is – so far!
Now, to make some beads!!
Hi Catalina. It is Speed Boat. I found where you were see the reference for Pine Wood and have gone ahead and corrected that type. Sorry for the confusion.
