{"id":4509,"date":"2009-06-20T03:06:58","date_gmt":"2009-06-20T10:06:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.beadsandbeading.com\/blog\/?p=4509"},"modified":"2009-10-15T17:48:33","modified_gmt":"2009-10-16T00:48:33","slug":"faux-leather-rose-beads-studio-by-sculpey-polymer-clay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beadsandbeading.com\/blog\/faux-leather-rose-beads-studio-by-sculpey-polymer-clay\/4509\/","title":{"rendered":"Faux Leather Rose Beads Made From Studio by Sculpey Polymer Clay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.beadsandbeading.com\/images\/blog\/2009-06\/20-faux-leather-rose-bead-2009-06-13-064.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Faux Leather Polymer Clay Rose Bead\" vspace=\"0\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\" align=\"left\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue, And Some Clay Roses are Leathery Too!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Over the last couple of weeks here at the blog, there has been an obvious focus on both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beadsandbeading.com\/blog\/polymer-clay-tutorial-variegated-sculpted-rose-beads\/4390\/\">rose beads<\/a> as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beadsandbeading.com\/blog\/studio-by-sculpey-polymer-clay-oven-bake-clay-bead-making\/4403\/\">Studio by Sculpey Clay<\/a>. So I thought it would be fun to combine the two topics and make a unique rose bead that has a suede like feel to it&#8230; thanks to the characteristics of the Studio Clay formula.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">For this particular rose, I made a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beadsandbeading.com\/blog\/tear-drop-method-polymer-clay-skinner-blend\/2613\/\">Teardrop Blend<\/a> using the colors Buttercream and Nutmeg (sounds delicious eh?). This color blend was then used to create a modified Skinner Blend plug similar to the one pictured here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beadsandbeading.com\/blog\/polymer-clay-tutorial-rose-bead-sculpted-flower-beads\/4473\/\">Sculpted Flower Beads<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">To add to the soft aged look, some Chocolate Brown <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beadsandbeading.com\/blog\/studio-by-sculpey-antiquing-medium-on-polymer-clay-beads\/4429\/\">Studio by Sculpey Antiquing Medium<\/a> was rubbed into the folds of the rose petals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It has a completely different look than the more realistic looking roses shown in my 2 part video tutorial lessons, but it is a wonderful focal bead just the same.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Which do you prefer? The more realistic translucent rose beads?
