It is typically used for making spaghetti strands or polymer clay hair. But these long skinny<\/span><!--more--><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> clay strands can be used in many different ways. Here are 6 creative ideas for you to incorporate them into your polymer clay projects:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>1)<\/strong><\/span> Put multiple colors in the barrel of the extruder and make a pile of clay snakes that can be coiled around in spirals and swirls to get a beautiful filigree look.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>2)<\/strong><\/span> Bake these colorful snakes and cut them into short little lengths (1\/4&#8243; or less). You can then stick these pieces end first into a slab of raw clay to create a &#8216;pointillist&#8217; picture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>3)<\/strong><\/span> Embed short lengths of baked snakes along their sides and create a miniature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beadsandbeading.com\/blog\/mosaic-crafts-for-polymer-clay-artists-mixed-media-projects\/139\/\">polymer clay mosaic<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>4)<\/strong><\/span> How about gathering together several raw clay snakes and use them as a background for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beadsandbeading.com\/blog\/polymer-clay-canes-2008-designs\/2150\/\">polymer clay cane<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>5)<\/strong><\/span> Wrap a raw clay strand around a core bead made with scrap clay, for an interesting look.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\">6)<\/span><\/strong> Wind up a strand of raw clay into a tiny nest to work into a design for making some cool <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beadsandbeading.com\/blog\/bird-pendant-jewelry-trends-on-etsy-make-with-polymer-clay\/184\/\">bird pendant jewelry<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><em>What Else?<\/em> Put your creative thinking cap on and let&#8217;s get those ideas flowing. Not just for the commonly used polymer clay hair or spaghetti strand disc&#8230; but for all of the various extruder die cut shapes.
