In the previous color recipe palette, Little Becka Sunflower Palette<\/a>, I spoke of how that picture of the beautiful open faced flower makes me feel like turning my face to the sun… closing my eyes and just soaking it all in.<\/span><\/p>\n

The unopened sunflower has quite a different feel that it evokes… beginning more closed, protected and just emerging… then slowly unfurling and opening to the world. Changing… maturing… developing into the magnificent flower it will soon become.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even the colors are so different at this stage than they will turn out to be in the open blossom. So green and undeveloped. It’s hard to believe these fresh yellow green petals will become the rich red petals of the Little Becka Sunflower.<\/span><\/p>\n

I love that about living things… how they start out in one form… and then mature into another. Each stage completely different, but just as beautiful in its own special way. Even after the sunflower has gone to seed… its heavy head hanging down from the weight, and the petals all dried and curled up from the long summer exposure… the plump seeds in an intricate spiral… dark and rich… promise of nourishment and future crops as the seeds are consumed by foragers, or that fall to the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

This really is a lovely photo Doug captured isn’t it? So much potential in those unfurling petals… I do hope you enjoy this inspiration for our next Vol-085-B Series color recipes for June 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n
