I don’t know what it is about this picture that Doug took a couple years back of a pretty Little Becka<\/em> Sunflower (it was in a local farmer’s field<\/a> not far from our house)… but it just makes me feel like turning my face to the sun… closing my eyes, and soaking everything in. Just like the face of this sunflower seems to be doing in the photo.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is something so cheerful… so peaceful… and so calming about this sunflower. It’s like standing in the presence of a quiet supportive friend that makes you feel good… even when they haven’t said a word. And since this particular variety of sunflower is called Little Becka<\/em>, that will be the name of my new flower friend<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

I am quite excited to be growing my own crop of sunflowers again this year. I used to grow them in the beds along the back of our yard, but stopped when the white morning glories (aka Bindweed), quite literally invaded my space.<\/span><\/p>\n

It took me a few years, but I now have those invasive plants under control… to the point that I can finally grow other plants without them being completely swallowed up by the chocking vines. So, in addition to some Foxgloves, Columbines, Daises and Poppies, I’ve decided to plant sunflower seeds again… Yay :-)<\/span><\/p>\n

It means that later this Summer, if you were to pop by my place, you’d probably catch me standing in the sunflower patch with my eyes closed and my face towards the sun… quietly just soaking it all in.<\/span><\/p>\n
