After a long hot Summer, it is time to cut and bale the hay in the fields… food and bedding for the livestock over a long cold Winter. Such is the cycle of chores for the Idaho Farmer of these rolling fields.<\/span><\/p>\n

This photo taken by Doug on our 2013 PcT Roadtrip<\/a> through Washington and Idaho. At this time of the year the vast landscape is mostly the soft earth tone colors of dried grasses and freshly ploughed soil.<\/span><\/p>\n

But today’s shot of color on the neutral landscape, provided by what looks to be a pretty new Red Tractor, draws the eye in and tells a story of a farmer, spending the early hours of the day collecting and stacking the huge round hay bails for the Winter. I can just see him (or her of course) in the air conditioned cab, listening to Country Music (or Classical or Rock) and singing away, while riding miles and miles of circles and loops… weaving their way over the acres.<\/span><\/p>\n

I think this would not be so bad a life actually… time away from the hustle and bustle of City Life. Hours of quiet (or loud) solitude. Time to think about how truly grateful you are, for all that this amazing planet has given to you. For love. For family. For beauty. For life!<\/span><\/p>\n
