One piece of nature that I always link with Christmas Time… besides Holly Berries<\/a>, Mistletoe<\/a>, Poinsettia<\/a> and Cedar Boughs<\/a> of course… is the equally as beautiful Pine Cone.<\/span><\/p>\n

So when I was looking through the photos trying to decide on the perfect image for the December 2013 Color Palette, I settled on this great close up photo\u00a0 of a pine cone that Doug shot on our Pct Roadtrip this Past Summer<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s funny how looking at this picture makes me think of two seasons at the same time… the Summer when this photo was taken, and the Winter when I enjoy the basket of pine cones I have by my fireplace.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is something so cozy about a big basket of Pine Cones, sitting by the fireplace. Just the thought of tossing one in the fire to smell the woodsy aroma of the pine sap as it bubbles and snaps on the burning pine cone, makes me want to curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book, and sit awhile.<\/span><\/p>\n

I love the complex textures and the earthy neutral colors that are found in pinecones. They come in all sizes and shapes… some thick and spiky… some small with thin petals<\/em>… and some not even actually from a pine tree at all.<\/span><\/p>\n
