\"Polymer<\/td>\n<\/td>\nPlay It Again, <\/em>Faux Opal Necklace:<\/span><\/strong>So different than my usually large and chunky jewelry, this dainty Faux Opal bezel pendant, encased in UV Resin<\/a>, sways gently to its own tune… on an up-cycled silk covered guitar string.<\/span><\/p>\n

You have seen me use unusual materials for making jewelry before, but this guitar string is a first for me. Here’s the story…<\/span><\/p>\n

My best friend Diane’s teenage son plays Acoustic Guitar and is getting pretty darn good. His instructor suggested he move up to a high quality, silk covered string that produces a richer tone. After replacing a couple strings, Diane noticed the beauty of the wire, and started saving them for me.<\/span><\/p>\n

When I saw the wire’s lovely shine and its wonderful silky feel, I knew it was perfect for using as a neck wire. There is even a small brass ring which is wired right into one end, which as you can see was the perfect solution for making the clasp.<\/span><\/p>\n

To keep the look clean and seamless, the other end of the guitar string was formed into a wrapped hook, which fits nicely into the ring on the other end. The total length of the neck wire is 19″ (48 cm), the ideal length for a relaxed fitting choker style necklace.<\/span><\/p>\n

The brass oval bezel setting is approximately 3\/4″ (2 cm) in length and is filled with a polymer clay faux opal<\/a> technique and encased in a UV Resin. Terry Morris<\/em> at UltraDome<\/a> is now carrying these brass bezels as well as the UltraDome Jewelry Glaze Resin.<\/span><\/p>\n

This necklace is one of a kind and would make a lovely gift for a friend, or for yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n
