“I know I vowed
never to leave, but
things have changed!”
~Cindy-L
I’m sorry everyone, but I quit. Polymer clay is no longer my passion and I have thrown every block of Premo and every tool I own out the window! I’ve taken a torch to my studio and I’m never looking back!
It was taking over my life anyways. I stopped eating and sleeping all because of polymer clay! I stopped doing housework and my family was getting thin. The lawn was so long that there were lions and tigers living in it. And I was becoming afraid to even go outside anymore!
I regret making this announcement, because I know many of you have been enjoying your time here. But there is not much I can do. Something has changed that is pulling me in a new direction. Please scroll down the page for the full story….

******* APRIL FOOLS!!!*******
Please tell me that you did not for one second believe any of that crazy talk. I could never leave polymer clay! I’ll hire someone to deal with the Wild Animal problem in my lawn. And my family will just need to learn how to cook. I plan on being around for a very, very long time. You can’t get rid of me that easily! :-)

Sono felice che sia uno scherzo del 1° aprile Grazie per essere intorno
I believed it for one horrifying second. LOL
Before I even came to the blog today I wondered if you would try to April Fools us. You would have to try some other trick Cindy we know better. I don’t for a minute think anyone would ever try to get rid of you either. You should of tried something like upping our fees. We all know you deserve more than what we are paying you each month. I sure would like to know what pamagela said in Italian. All fooling set aside I for one am happy you are hooked on PC and even happier you share your love for it with all of us. April fools around my house is kind of blah now that the kids are all grown and out of the house. It use to be a watch out look and see who is going to pull the best one this year. Oh how I miss those days. All of you with young ones enjoy each and every moment and April Fools you have left.
Have a happy and safe April Fools everyone. Uuuuuugggggs to all, Peggy
Thanks for the laugh.
You actually had me really worried for a moment…….phew!
@Peggy: Pamangela wrote “I am happy that it is an April fools. Thank you for being here”. I second that in a VERY BIG WAY!
When I saw the headline only…my heart stopped. But before I clicked onto the whole page, I figured it out and without even reading it I scrolled right to the bottom just to be sure it said April Fools! Good one Cindy!! lol
You had me for a second too, I thought my heart had stopped for that second, then I remembered the date, scrolled to the bottom and started breathing again. Someone got me like that during halloween with an email version of “war of the worlds” before I realized it was the date of the original old radio broadcast. BRAVA Cindy, BRAVA!!!!!!!
That’s not even funny. At my age you could have given me a stroke. OK, now I’m laughing. Ha ha ha.
My stomach literally flip flopped when I opened the blog this morning. From everyone’s momentary reponses to the thought of losing you, you must know how much you mean to all of us.
I thought you must have been taken over by the Body Snatchers.
Oh my god, I did believe you, and I feld very sorry for You and for my self.
But I laugh now;-)
For a brief second I believed your prank, and then my brain kicked in, “this is our Cindy” it said, and today is April 1st. Glad I noticed that before opening up the blog. Like others, the kids are gone as well as the jokes. So everyone have a wonderful, safe April Fools Day….waiting for tomorrow. Cindy, you are true blue, you bring us the unexpected expected and laughter that is so important in this serious world of ours. Thanks so much for being YOU.
You are so naughty Cindy I just had a panic attack ——- you think i am kidding don’t you
Wish I’d have remembered what day it was before I opened this blog. Whew! What a scare!
I was in shock, but sometimes the internet does start to take over our lives and we really need to move on. I have seen it happen. It was a excelent joke.
For one shocking second it was “NOOOOO!”
Hahaha! I did not believe it one second, because I dont believe anything I see on the internet on April fools day lol :P
Just for a second…. then I remembered the day.
You are my first April Fools joke of the day. I believed for about 1 second then remembered the holiday. To help this day go well, my families tradition is to start the day backwards. We have banana splits for breakfast except I had my usual oatmeal.
@Kerri Crawford: What a fun idea! I need to try that with my nephews next year!
You scared the living bejezuzz out of me!! I’d forgotten completely what day it was — and since I’ve been getting the same commentary from my family (“you’re obsessed” being the most common). Now that my heart is back to pounding at its normal rhythm, I can only say thank goodness it was just a prank!!!!”
Well you had me – I was wondering if my Fridays would ever be the same again. But then my life has been such a blur of late I didn’t realise the date or I might have been more suspicious. Worst thing was I was reading in shock when a friend arrived and I didn’t get to read the end so I have spent about an hour or so not realising it was april fools – oh dear time for a rest I think!
Good trick Cindy (now I have recovered lol)
Not even a single second. I woke up prepared for April Fool’s jokes today!
Took about five seconds but gave my head a shake and I came around. Good one Cindy, too funny!! ;0)
I was worried too! I thought something TERRIBLE must have happened in your life, am so glad all is well!
Cindy – You are mean! My heart is still pounding and my hands are shaking! You did make it believable since we know that you work long and hard for us. I got a notice like this from my wire mentor a few years ago, the trouble was, for her it was true. Her son had a life threatening illness and she had to give up everything to care for him. BTW: He survived and is doing well – thank God! Anyway, yes, I believed that something could have come up and you’d have to quit being our tutor. The only thing I didn’t believe was tossing everything out the window and torching the studio, but I thought you might have meant that figuratively. I could imagine you giving up tutoring, but never PC! But, you got this gal real good!
You got me good. i thought you meant it.
Pattyjo :+)
You got me for a minute when I saw the title, I didn’t believe you were leaving Polymer Clay, but I thought you might be branching out to animal sculpture or something. That would have been depressing, because I love, love LOVE beads! Good one, Cindy. I had forgotten it’s April Fool’s Day…
On another note, what did it mean on yesterday’s post where you said,
“And… there’s prizes too!” Is there going to be another contest? If so, is it only spotlight people that get to enter, or??? I’m dying to know!
ADDED NOTE: Here’s a bit more info about my PRIZES reference from the other day :-) ~Cindy
Does anyone know what Cindy meant in her post yesterday? See my @comment above. It sounds like a new contest…?!!?
I had forgotten the date and you really had me for a moment . I was ”Oh no this cant be’ and when I came to the part scroll down to the end of the page i got it! Thanks for the laugh but you had me panicked too.
You almost had me there Cindy! It would have been a very sad day for me…glad it was just a joke…hahaha. It was a second one for me today…glad I scrolled down before commenting. LOL
only just found you and i am soooo glad it was a just a joke i would miss this comunity no end
Thank God is was a joke! I had to read and re-read it! I have been brushing up on my Spanish and I had to think for a moment! Was this in English or Spanish? Was I reading you were quitting? HELP! (I almost called you before I finished reading!) Best April fools joke in a long time!!
BIG GRIN!!! I knew it was a joke by the second line… when you say you’ve lost your passion for polymer clay! You can tell on your videos that you are having way too much fun to lose it that quickly. Then, like others, I remembered the date and just laughed out loud!
You are a nut!
THAT WAS SCARY1111111 My heart is still pounding. Thank God it was a joke. I forgot it was April fools day. PHEW1111 Boy, you really got me good. PLEASE, don’t ever leave us!!!! I also thought you were branching out because of your great talent. Peggy and Joyce, I agree. No kids, no jokes!!!!! Honey
Well you sure got me! I think my heart is still in my stomach! That was a good one though, You definately had me going. I hope you never decide to stop teaching, you have an incredible gift for it, and with all the books I’ve purchased none of them come close to explaining things the way you do. I know I’ve said it many times, but I’m gonna say it again, Cindy you rock!!!
You had my heart stopping for a second there. I just joined yesterday and then I remembered what day it was…whew!!! you got me for sure.
y
Yep, ya got me too… No kids, no jokes on April 1st. Scared the you know what outta me!!! I’m am ever so thankful it was just a joke!!!!!!!!!!
~Lisa :)
Darn, Cindy – you have me COMPLETELY FOOLED!!! That was a nasty April 1st day joke! I was so HORRIFIED as my learning under you starts with V023 tutorial and I was truly looking forward to receiving all my new lessons and keeping them in my folder until I have the organized loft space and dedicated time to work in it. I enjoyed my basics course so much as well as all the pictures on your blog – the latter keeps me focused on my end April goal of diving right into polymer play.
Not funny Cindy!!! Phew!!! You had me there for a few seconds!!!
Wow, my heart stopped for a couple of seconds, too. I thought yesterday was April 1, so the joke never crossed my mind. I was so panicked that I could barely read!
Thank heaven you were only kidding!
hi there
no way to fool me Cindy! you know in Cyprus everybody is doing that on the 1st of April. Even the newspapers! I was sure it was something like that.!!! Keep doing your good work my dear for a long long time.
I told an elderly man he had toilet paper hanging from his pants and I thought that was bad. Good thing he had a take a joke. Your joke had me going for a while. But scrolling down I figured it out. Good one Cindy.
No Cindy you didnt fool me for a minute. I saw the head line and said whats this !!, but just could not picture you throwing any sort of clay out.
Even if all around you like Rome was burning to the ground. We had our share of April fool jokes here , so was prepared for the unusual.but good try. Anyway we wouldnt let you do that we’d all be on your doorstep Demanding more Tuts. LOL ,LOL,LOL, ROFLOL !!!
Love
Elizabeth K.
P.S. Those poor gals that have just joined , you shouldnt do that to them. I can imagaine how they would have felt .
Tsk Tsk our naughty Cindy XXXX
Still Love you tho
XXX Elizabeth.
I couldn’t believe what I was reading… I read this message on Friday morning. Cindy glad you are sticking around…. we would miss you terribly… Happy Claying….
If you hadn’t concocted such a huge, exaggerated story to go along with that you might have had me, but the details were just too much!
Good one!
Donnie
Have just picked my jaw up from the floor after reading this today, April 2. All I could think of was not finding out about that beautiful egg!
I celebrate my wedding anniversary on April Fool’s Day, so am pretty aware of jokes on that day. I bit for the first few words, then the lightbulb went on. LOL Good one.
Loretta
Oh my gosh, you got me! Yeah, I’m a tad gullible, so glad it was a ruse! You are tricky my friend! :)
LOL Thanks for the giggle Cindy. I got as far as “I have thrown every block of Premo … out the window!” And thought, “yeah, right! April Fool.” rofl.
Holding my breath, I continued to read, and with a great sigh of relief …as I scrolled down to find…it really was a joke! You got me, Cindy.
Hehehe *evil grin* That was so fun! Thanks for being such good sports!
I thought if I went over the top with the descriptions like ‘torching the studio’ and the ‘Lions and Tigers’ bit that you would all see right through it. But some of you went and almost had heart attacks anyways!
I think the one that made me laugh the most was pollyanna’s comment “You had my heart stopping for a second there. I just joined yesterday!” Sorry about that pollyanna! LOL What a way to join this community! :-)
My son Fisher loved Susan’s comment, “You are a nut!” Direct and straight to the point. He agrees with you Susan, he thinks I’m a nut too!
Just goes to show you how much this community is counting on each other. This is a place where you can be free to be creative. The ideas are infinite. Where no question is a dumb question and people care about your well being.
Other than making me chuckle, it did warm my heart and I was very touched by your comments. Don’t worry, Doug and I won’t be going anywhere. I won’t be throwing out my clay and I definitely won’t be torching my studio!
I love it here. I’m thrilled that you do too!
When I was teaching for educational research I used to say: ‘Ask away! There’s no such thing as a dumb question if you don’t know the answer.’ And I’d usually follow that up by saying: ‘If you ask a question, you’re the brave one … there are probably dozens of others who have the same question but are afraid to ask it.’
So there! You are so right, Cindy. We are a loving and caring community and you have made it so that we are comfortable sharing our questions … as well as our needs. This is a praying community as well as a claying community. Thank you, Cindy, and all the rest of you who care about others even more than yourselves. May you all be blessed!
Wowsa!! As I read your headline…………I did have a stroke. My third! Then before I even realized the April fools thing, I reminded myself… DOH….adicts don’t try to quit a GOOD thing! Ha! Good one there!
You Got Me Too – only four days later. I read my e-mails and watched Friday’s Video but hadn’t read any Blogs since Mar 31. I scrolled down your highlights and almost fell over. I was prepared to hop on my Scooter and ride over there to scrounge for any Premo that survived the fire (dodging the lions and tigers of course). Then I remembered today is Easter and I had a ham in the oven and had to prepare scalloped potatoes for eight hungry friends. But first I have to go back and finish reading the blog entries and maybe have a glass of single malt scotch to calm my nerves ;-)
Cindy, this was a hoot!!! I just saw this post and didn’t believe it for one second… LOL… but I had been prepared the other day on Facebook when my 40(something) cousin with grown children posted that she was pregnant!!! I totally believed her then saw others’ comments about it being April 1st. :)
I’m with Elizabeth K. though — this had to be a shocker for some of our newer friends here!
Thanks for your sense of humor, Cindy, and for all you do for us!
I was almost in tears!!!! lol!!! I’m soooooo happy this was nothing but a prank! I don’t know what I would do without your videos and guidance!!! :) I
Okay, you got me! Have my heart a real twist! I had told my husband earlier that no one had fooled me, but you just did. SO glad you are not leaving us! I love what you do. Clever clever girl!
Noooooo! You got me again!
XOXO
Maria
Looking over the 2010 comments, I was saddened to notice that many of the “old regulars” are not around on this site any more. I wonder where they went? I hope to be with this blog as long it exists!
Five years later and still going strong… like the energizer bunny :-)
Actually it’s 7 years if you go back to the very beginning (2008).
Maria, it’s so good to see that you are one of the “old” timers still keep’n the faith!
There are others too…. many of whom have chosen to age oh-so-gracefully in the background… like a fine wine.
It would be wonderful to hear from some of you “originals” that haven’t spoken in a while… if nothing else just to say Hi… I miss you :’-) … we miss you … you are all still part of this wonderful family!
I’m still here! I just don’t get to post as often as I used to. Too busy playing with my clay and keeping up with my jewelry classes. Plus, some health issues, too. I think that might the reason for some other clay friends, as well. Now, with baseball season starting I will be even more pressed for time! But, I do keep up with the tutes and look forward to them each month!
When I read that you were quitting
I couldn’t believe my eye
(Got a pirate patch on the other one)
Now “what’s up” with dear Cindy?
For her to be saying goodbye.
Then reading the rest of this clever scam
(and knowing your wicked mind)
It’s the beginning of April
Look out for her pranks
To see what you will find.
A lot of hearts had missed a beat
When they read you were going to quit
Not sure they loved this A.F. joke
We were worried (quite a bit)
Now we can all rest easy
As this day has come and gone
We know you were just fooling with us
Our Cindy will still cary on….(.Unless one of the lions wants a tasty snack ha ha)
….Cheers………xx
Oh Elaine you are always a delight! Oh by the way, today is Easter Monday and now that the kids are grown, I have decided to change the Easter Egg Hunt into a Treasure Hunt for everyone, including the adults. Each clue is a little rhyme or play on words. It will be fun to see the grandparents, running around trying to find the next clue, right there with Doug and the kids. I just thought I’d mention that to you, since of all people, I thought you might enjoy the image of that scene. Happy Easter to you!
Hi Cindy,
Hope your family all enjoyed your Easter treasure hunt. I can imagine you all dodging those lions and tigers in the garden.
My garden has become so wild I’m sure I saw an Elephant hiding in the Bamboo, but with the sun going down it was probably the shadows tricking my eyes.
Just waiting for a delivery of Bake & Bond so I can start on the mini paintings….how exciting………cheers ……xx
Hi Cindy, I have just dicovered that I CAN access the WordPress site. I could only find a few tutorials about basic hints. How do I access my tutorials that I have subscribed to? This year has not been good to me. I am now living in a unit and have sold my RV, so I have much more space :-). Looking forward to trying some more Polymer clay recipes. Regards, Carol
Good to hear that you are getting things sorted :)
I just sent an email to you with your log in details for the members library site.
