How Would You Like To Download A New Color Recipe Card Every Week?
Starting today, I’m adding a brand new feature to the email Guest List Newsletter. It involves a fun and rewarding treasure hunt game… a game where everyone wins!
From now on as a subscriber to the newsletter, each week you will be able to download a new color recipe card to your computer. And the “treasure hunt” part is… well… almost too easy. But that’s OK. I really do want you to collect all of these complimentary cards.
In a recent survey conducted here at my blog, color mixing was identified as one of the biggest polymer clay challenges for many of you. So… this brand new weekly newsletter giveaway feature is my way of helping out.
Here’s The 2 Simple Rules On How To Play:
1) In each weekly email newsletter, I will list 7 articles that have been published right here at my blog.
2) All you have to do is go have a look at the blog articles. Ideally you should read them as well ;-) and hopefully learn something new from each one. The weekly recipe download link will simply be waiting for you in one of the 7 articles.
But rather than making it TOO easy, I’m not going to point out the link with an obvious recipe graphic or anything like that.
Instead, this “unidentified” link will be a normal text link in the body copy of 1 of the 7 articles. And in each article there will be several links to choose from.
Click on them all until you find the right one. It will be obvious when the correct link is clicked, because you will instantly be forwarded to the color recipe page.
Want to know which recipe you’re playing for this week? Well… you will have to sign up to my Polymer Clay Guest List to find out.
Cool !!!!!!!!!!!! Be assured I will look until I find them all.. I have got my files waiting now. Thanks for all the help.
Oh Cindy!!! That was fun and I did, indeed, learn a lot while doing my “Treasure Hunt”. I will say that it was work…but so worthwhile!!! Thank you again for your generosity in sharing your knowledge with us.
OOh OOh I found it yeeeha. Thank you Cindy, all this fun just before xmas.
Found it! That was fun and I learned a lot in the process and added more valuable information to my polymer notebook of goodies. I may have to start a second book since I joined. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge with us.
Way to go gals!!! You have figured out my “super secret plan” (smiles) to help you learn some “valuable information” AND have some fun at the same time.
I’m using this “fun treasure hunt” idea to get everyone spending more time reading the free articles published each day here at the blog. One of the reasons I am doing this is because I receive so many emails asking questions about topics that have already been addressed… often many times over.
By giving you an incentive to browse through the blog pages each week in your quest to find the recipe card treasures, this encourages more readership and learning.
And speaking of receiving emails… this one just came in… “I must be computer challenged and am not able to find my treasure lol. I have looked at the blogs listed at the bottom of your Guest List Newsletter email, and haven’t found the color card yet. Hint please.”
I figured if I was going to provide a hint, I had better share it with everyone. So have a look at the picture below. It is a screen shot taken from the article where you will find this week’s ‘treasure link’. Yes all of those 5 underlined “text links” shown, will take you to some valuable information. But just one of them will take you to this week’s recipe card.

*** BEGINNING OF HINT *** BEGINNING OF HINT ***
Please note that the following is just a hint. In other words, the links aren’t active. You will still need to go find the real links on another article page here at the blog.

Dear Cindy,
Thank you so much for the hint!!! It is 3:26 AM and my brain was going crazy looking for the recipe!!! Sometimes a girl just needs a little help :) thanks again…I bet the Pacific Salmon recipe will be beautiful!
;) Cindy E.
Wow, that hurt my brain!
I was thinking that the link would be hidden in the main text, so it took me a while to figure it out!
When my brother made his first website he filled it with hidden links. He’d create a page with, say, a blue background, and add a tiny dot to it in the same colour as the background. This would be the link, but it would be completely invisible.
He once challnged me to find all 10 links on a page…. it drove me crazy!!
He’s never been normal, my brother.
Just a quick note for for everyone that was having difficulty finding the recipe card treasure hunt clue last week… I’ve made things WAY easier this week.
I just sent out the latest edition of the Guest List Email Newsletter with all of the details. Let me know what you think about the new clue format.
I really want all of you to have these bonus color recipe cards :-)
WOW!!! I loved the treasure hunt & I bet the Pacific Salmon color will be beautiful. I’m not especially that smart, but if I can find it, I bet others can too. After all, it is Cindy’s web site. Let’s all play together nice–it’s nice to learn new stuff & have fun at the same time. Vent time over—DE BRADEN
Dear Cindy,
Thank you for your great color recipes.
It would be great to get blank cards for my own recipes. Is this possible?
Helpful hint for european fans….
to match A7 index cards set wide (Breite) on 11cm. This works perfect with A7 card boxes.
Best regards
Janine
@DE BRADEN – I’m glad you are liking the treasure hunt. I want it to be fun and rewarding for everyone. Thanks for the support and for being part of the community.
@Janine from Germany – It’s great to have international visitors like you, commenting here at the blog. Your idea of the blank color recipe cards is also great. You are the first to bring it up. If there is enough interest from others, I could certainly do something like that. If others are interested, leave a comment below. When you comment here at the blog it’s kind of like a vote to let me know what sort of information is going to be most important to you :)
Also Janine, thanks for the A7 index card printing tip. Hopefully that be helpful for other visitors from Europe who are collecting these valuable color recipe cards.
Hi Cindy,
I have another idea…. what’s about a sweepstake. For example we send you our own color recipes and get free bonus recipes and maybe our own as card.
Have a nice day
Janine
That’s a neat idea Janine! I’ll definitely give some consideration to that!
UPDATE: Just wanted to add a quick note regarding the idea of making available a blank color recipe card.
Further up in this thread, Janine from Germany introduced the idea. And just today (Mar 20, 2009) another reader brought it up again in the “Polymer Clay Color Recipes” post linked by my name just above.
Would this “Blank Recipe Card” be of interest to anyone else?
I would interested in a Blank Recipe Card. Would it be a template of some kind, so we could print it out? Or is it something else that we would purchase from you? Anyway count me in!
Thanks Cindy!
Thanks for your comment Lupe. I appreciate that you took the time to comment :) All the best, Cindy.
I am new to the membership site–are the treasure hunt bonus color cards still available to be found or are they all long gone and I’ll never get them? thank you cherie
Hi Cherie,
Welcome to the library. It’s great to have you here.
Yes the Color Recipe Card treasure is long over. But I do provide back dated B-Series color recipes every week in my weekly Polymer Guest List Newsletter.
At some point when I get a bit more time, I’ll be coming up with other creative ways to make the all of the previously published B-Series color recipes cards available as well. If only there were more hours in each day to get everything done as fast as I would like… :-)
