Video #745: Plamena Ivanova from Bulgaria, sells these miniature cutters at her Etsy Shop, Little Funky Flames. They are wonderful!
In today’s video I am going to show you some Little Funky Tools from Little Funky Flames on Etsy.
A little while ago, we did a video on the Miniature Enchanted Rose. In that video I explained how to use a drinking straw to cut out tiny circles out of polymer clay, to make the miniature rose.
Well a long time viewer by the name of Plamena Ivanova, from Bulgaria, saw this video and contacted us. She said that she has been watching our videos for years and wanted to send me a set of tiny little cutters as a gift. She promised they would make cutting very small circles a whole lot easier for me. What a sweet gesture!
When the package arrived, it was decorated with her lovely script handwriting, and the tools were packaged in a handy (and cute) little box with a magnetized lid. There were 32 cutters in circles, ovals and teardrop shapes, ranging in size from 1mm to 10mm. Also included was a bamboo stick that can be used as a handle to hold onto the smaller cutters if needed.
The bamboo handle came longer than the box, so I trimmed it to fit snuggly inside the lid, which you will see in the video.
I played around with these tiny cutters and was inspired to make a miniature poisonous mushroom, some tiny leaf bead earrings and some neat little ‘Mermaid Tail’ shaped earrings from a sparkly Teardrop Blend. You will see samples and learn how I made them in the video as well.
Today I am sharing some love back to Plamena, by sharing this video with everyone. If you’re ever in need of cutting teeny tiny holes, or cutting out teeny tiny shapes, then you will want to check out Plamena’s Etsy Shop – Little Funky Flames. This world could use a few more kind and generous people like her!

Looking forward to hearing from you!
It’s so cool to receive little tools that you can try out and discover ways of using them.
That was so sweet of her to do this Cindy. I have the round set but what the heck I might just as well support her and order the complete set from her since I don’t have the teardrop shapes! Please thank her for us and let her know how much we appreciate her generosity!
You may be able to order the ovals and teardrop shapes seperately Dixie Ann… but unless you have already ordered, you may have to wait a little. Our guys have already bought out here whole store. Only thing left is one small set of ovals. I have a note out to her. Hopefully she can restock right away. There are people on Facebook asking for them too!
Hello Cindy. Thanks for another great video. Sadly these tools are not available anymore:(
Susan Clarke
Hi Susan, becauseof our video, she did sell out. But her stockhasbeen replenished. Try again. She should have some now.
I have this set of cutters, love them! The little teardrops are so neat for leaves and petals and things. And the box is really helpful, without that I’m sure I’d’ve lost a bunch of them already.
I believe these are called insulated ferrules. The ones you usually get are just round though.
That’s great Krithika! I agree about the box… that is almost half the value right there. I didn’t know what they were called. I believe she shapes them all by hand.
I checked Little Funky Flames at Etsy, and she currently has only the ovals available for sale. Just the round cutters are available at prairiecraft for $4.99.
Yeah, all our viewers bought her out! Bet those would be gone too, if I had demoed them specifically. I have let Plamena know. Hopefully she has them restocked again very soon. I have people asking on Facebook as well!
Think I ordered possibly the last set of the three types of cutters as another viewer and friend tried to purchase them about the day after and they had sold out. That said mine were supposed to shipped on Aug 19th, I’ve not received them yet and the Etsy site still shows has not shipped, I’ve contacted the shop 3 times through Etsy but no response and Etsy won’t let me log it as not received until 3rd Sept.
Hi Marie, I have talked with Plamena and she is having difficulties keeping up with the number of sales that our video has sent her. She said she was going to try and get some help with answeing the emails that are piling up in her inbox. She is trying to make up the sets and get them out as fast as she can. She said that she posted a notice on her Etsy page that said that shipments can be delayed and for purchasers to be patient. From what I can tell she is a good person and was simply overwhelmed by too many sales. Hopefully you will get your cutters soon!
Hi Cindy,
Oh thanks so much for taking the time and contacting Plamena this has made me feel a whole lot better. You are such a good person I appreciate it so much thanks.
Hi Everyone,
Just to let everyone know I opened a case with Etsy this morning on my tiny cutters and got the following back from Etsy:
“Thanks for letting us know there was an issue with your order. Unfortunately, LittleFunkyFlames has failed to resolve this case. They will no longer be eligible to sell on Etsy until this case has been resolved. We recommend you contact PayPal, your bank or your credit card provider for further assistance. To request a refund through PayPal, visit their Resolution Center. You have until February 3, 2017 to file a PayPal claim for this order. If you feel your issue has been resolved, please close the case.”
I looked and sure enough LittleFunkyFlames is no longer on Etsy.
But hey Cindy, thanks very much for contacting her, I really appreciated that.
Hi again,
Just had a message from LittleFunkyFlames to say all delayed orders to be sent out in 48 hours – so heres hoping.
That is excellent news Marie!
Many of you will already be familiar with Aniko from Mandarin Ducky. She is a well known and experienced Polymer Clay Artist, YouTuber and Etsy Seller. She too has been selling these tiny cutters, which she calls Dotties. Aniko was selling these tiny cutting tools in many shapes and recognized quickly that shaping each and every one by hand was becoming a bottle neck in sales. (This is most likely one of the big reasons why Little Funky Tools was unable to keep up with production.) Aniko quickly decided the best option was to only sell the round tools and offer a free tutorial video on how her customers could shape them themselves, to come up with whatever custom shape they wanted, and Aniko could get them shipped quickly without the production worries.
Here is the link to Aniko’s Etsy Page for the Dottie Tools. It is our affiliate link so Etsy can give us some credit for referring any sales that we send over to Aniko. You will find the Dotties in her Tools & Supplies section.
And here is the free video where you can learn to shape your own Dotties to whatever shape you need….
Hi, Cindy. I love your tutorials, and as someone new to working with polymer clay, I have found your instructions easy to follow and your hints valuable. It was in one of your tutorials that I learned about the little cutters from Little Funky Flames, and I couldn’t wait to order them when I found them on Etsy.
Hi Liz – Thank you for your kind words. I sent an email to you about your questions about Plamena’s Etsy Store… but the message I sent to you seems to have bounced, so you probably missed typed your email when you posted your message. If you want to email me directly, I can re-send the information to your correct address.
Hi Cindy,
Your videos are wonderful and so very helpful!. Thank you for all the great information you offer on polymer clay! I recently watch the one on the tiny tools? The Funky little tools set from Funky little Flames, I can not find her on etsy. Can we buy the tools anywhere else? I would love to get them.
Thank you,
Judi Manchini
