“I’ve been
craving animal
print tutorials for so
long… can’t wait to see
the leopard print cane on
Friday!” ~Phaedrakat
On May 11th, I posted an introductory preview clip for my Leopard Cane Tutorial. Today, the full version of this video lesson is available for viewing at the Polymer Clay Members Library. Here is the direct link: Leopard Pattern Animal Cane in a Wild Assortment of Colors
For those of you who are not yet paid members, I’ve posted just a few screen grab images further down on this page. They were captured from this week’s Leopard Cane Video. Hopefully this will give you a bit of an idea as to what you can expect should you decide to come on board.
The cost is only $3.32 per month, which gives you 24/7 access to the full versions of these Friday tutorial videos. Plus you also receive four A-series color recipe cards. This week’s color is: Raspberry from the Stargazer Lily Palette

Well there you have it… a small taste of what you will receive in the full version of the Leopard Cane Video Tutorial. If you want to become a paid member, here is the link: Polymer Clay Video Library Or if you are brand new to polymer clay, the best place to first learn all of the fundamentals is here: Polymer Clay Beginners Course To browse other tutorials that are available for purchase without becoming a subscribing member (in other words… just a one time fee), you can go here: Polymer Clay Video Back Issues |

And finally… for those of you who have already come on board at my Polymer Clay Tutor Library, I have a huge favor to ask.
Even though the price of being a paid member is so small… it is still, nevertheless, a cost. And because of this, everyone needs to be convinced that the commitment will provide them with good value. So in the comment section below, I would very much appreciate receiving some feedback about how your paid membership has been helpful for you. Your words will mean so much more than anything I could ever say.
Doug and I put so much time and energy into keeping the “community” part of this site free for everyone’s benefit. We really do count on you guys to help show all of the non-members what they can expect to receive for the very low monthly fee of only $3.32 — Thank you so much! |

Great video Cindy! You made it so simple to do! Thanks! And I love the “screen grabs” above.
I thought at first, I couldn’t afford the monthly videos, but man was I wrong. I hardly notice the cost, and it only comes out once every quarter. The help of actually SEEING what Cindy is doing is beyond words. It’s one thing to tell someone in writting how to do a particular technique, but watching it is so much better. I am proud to say that I have now completed my collection of the videos Cindy has made with my purchase of the beginer’s course. It has been worth EVERY cent. Keep up the outstanding work Cindy and Doug. I’m here for the long haul.
Cindy, this is a wonderful tutorial. It never ceases to amaze me how you come up with your tricks to make things happen! I found your site a short time after I decided I wanted to learn how to work with polymer clay. I’ve been a teacher my entire adult life, so I know a good teacher when I see one. I also know an outstanding value. I watched your three free videos and immediately signed up for membership. You give us far more for our money than any other site…most single tutorials at other sites cost more than our monthly membership, which gives us 4 tutorials and 12 color recipes each month. After only a few months of using your techniques, I was already selling my polymer clay jewelry.
Like a lot of people I tried learning from books and different clay tutorials. I was doing okay but when I found your site I got really excited. Here was a place I could ‘see’ how it was done and also get help when needed. The basic tutes are worth every penny as are the weekly videos. All this plus the best people are gathered here to help and share.
Okay, how many of us knew that the leopard’s spots had fuzzy edges? Not me. Cindy’s right, now that you think about it. And now we have a better use for the nasty credit cards…!!!
I don’t use credit cards but it may be a good idea to get one for this video. And yes Cindy and Doug you deserve all the praise anyone could ever give you. Your teaching is first class and your costs worth every penny, or should I say cent. And Doug your video shots are so clear a true professional. Love you both.
@Ritzs: Neither do I (use credit cards) unless I have to, I am trying to ween myself off of them, the quarterly payments for Cindy comes out of a checking Account linked to PayPal. It is SOOOOO easy, I get an email reminder when the payment is to be taken.
@Ritzs: Hi Ritzs – as a potter I actually have more old gift/credit cards than I will ever be able to use. We (potters) collect them to cut into different shapes to use as tools with our mud clay. If you would like, I would be more than happy to send you some in the mail. You can get my email address from Cindy and send me your mailing address. I can drop some in the mail the same day I get your address and you’ll be making leopard canes in no time. :-))
So come on you non-members, join us. You wont miss the price of a hot dog a month – that’s about what this costs and 100% more benefit. We are learning and having fun just chatting to each other so come and meet us as a member.
I’m totally with Ken, I don’t notice the subscription fee either. Thanks Cindy, for providing such an affordable service!
Might try this cane at the weekend, it looks fun!
We pay such a small fee to get inside Cindy’s polymer clay head, and it is so worth it. I also find that if I subscribe to something, I am more likely to follow through and use the information that I am paying for. I highly encourage all of you that are sitting on the edge to jump in and enjoy the Polymer clay ride.
Ken I do exactly the same PayPal is so easyIhardly no its gone from my bank its such a small amount.
I am on a very tight budget, with a small income. Still, I am able to afford the $3.32 a month with no trouble. Well, actually it’s $9.95 per 3 months. Even though I count my pennies, this small membership price doesn’t hurt a bit! It’s cheaper than a fast-food meal for two (and who needs that, anyway!)
I’m so happy I joined! The videos are wonderful — the best I’ve seen on the web. Clear video, perfect sound, great close-ups. Cindy has arranged them so they’re super-easy to follow, too. But should you have questions, Cindy will answer them. The other members help, too. There’s always someone around to provide an answer to any question that comes up. It’s truly an amazing place to be a member. And the value for your money? Unbelievable!
When I first started wandering around the web searching for tutorials, I was stuck in bed with a bad back. I knew as soon as I felt good enough, I was going to get back into polymer clay. When I found this site, I watched some preview videos, and wanted more. To be honest, I was frustrated by being “teased”! I wondered if this site was really as good as all the people seemed to say it was. In fact, I wondered if the comments were real! But I followed along, left a comment, and realized that all of this great info and the cool videos were the real deal. An amazing deal! So I joined, and it was the best decision I could have made!
If you’re a beginner, intermediate, or even an advanced clayer, you’ll find something here to make you happy! At the going rate of tutes on the web, Cindy’s are the best for your money. Each video comes down to about $ .83 — 83 cents per video! You really can’t beat that! Not for a quality video. where you can actually see Cindy’s hands as she does the project. You really, really should join us & become a member! C’mon, we welcome you! :~D
I know I have saved at least $3.32 in clay and aggrevation by watching the Videos. Lord knows I have enough scap clay already !!! When you consider the cost of a PC book, these videos are a bargin. Lets say a PC book with 15 project and page of direstions is $26.00 (US); you may not even like all the projects in the book. For $26.56 you get an 8 month membership with 32 videos, plus color recipes!! I am not a math person but it makes sense to me.
What I like about the video library is that I can go back and watch the videos later. Sometimes I may not be doing a particular project at the time but want to use that technique a couple months later.
Anna-Des Moines
Hi Cindy
I have made an attempt at your Leopard cane and I think mine looks more like a giraffe :-). You can see it a designsbyloretta.blogspot.com/2010/05/cindy-lietz-leopard-cane-of-polymer.html
I will make another attempt and add more ecru. This was fun.
I held out for quite a while thinking it was an additional expense I could not afford. Finally decided that an extra $9.95 was not going to break me and I’m so happy that I did join. It is sometimes the little things you do that make your projects look so much better and Cindy gives us all her tricks of the trade. I’ve made buttons before but never made them using Saran Wrap over the clay. What a difference. Another favorite was using the Adirondack inks for the Jellyroll Cane. Nice to have another use for my craft supplies. I would urge anyone to give up one movie a month, or one magazine, or anything else that equates to about $3.50 a month and join in the fun.
I’ve been following your site for quite a while now Cindy and thank you for being so generous with your free advice. It must give you a sense of great satisfaction knowing you are helping others enjoy their craft. You are much appreciated.
Janet in Visalia, CA
@Janet Allen: Hi Janet, I just wanted to say “Hi” to a fellow Californian! I’m from Riverside (yep, So Cal.) Do you belong to any guilds or anything? Just wondering… Have a great day!
To have a resource on tap for all those late night problems is amazing.
I only have to refer to the back log of videos and I have the answer.
What is even better about this library of video instruction is the price.
I can’t believe it is so inexpensive. I would never discontinue this weekly service. Besides Cindy has this uncanny knack of taking a complex technique and simplifying it. Just look her take on the ‘skinner’ blend!
I’m not sure what I can add to everyone’s comments about the value of this site–except that I count it among the things that make me happy, plain and simple. I love how I am growing as an artist (ok, “artist” might be a stretch), thanks to Cindy and Doug’s commitment to this site. I love the generous community of “classmates” who share what they know without hesitation so the rest of us can benefit. I love how often I laugh at the humerous posts. I love how one can post their pc “goofs”, ask for help and almost immediately receive supportive corrections. Now before you go “ewww” at these somewhat sappy remarks, I ask you, where are you going to find another resource with all these benefits for so little investment? I dare say it would be difficult to find. Like I said, it makes me happy to be part of it all.
Hugs,
Elizabeth S.
No words can describe the benefits I receive through my membership. It is totally the best deal around. It is like having your own personal teacher. Have questions after watching? Post your comments or questions and your answers are just moments away. Have you joined yet? What are you waiting for? We are waiting to welcome you to the best community on the net!!
Actually, I would like to extend my offer of gift/membership cards to anyone in this community that needs one or more. Everyone I know gives me their used gift/membership cards to use as clay tools so I have lots and lots. If anyone wants to make the leopard cane but doesn’t have the required stiff card, let me know and I will be more than happy to share with you.
I absolutely agree. I’m a teacher too and I can recognize good teaching. Cindy is the best teacher. I’ve watched a lot of other jewelry videos and read books but it makes a big difference watching Cindy. You can pause the video and actually go along with her. She makes things so simple and easy you simply get encouraged and motivated to try it out . And Doug’s photos are amazing – the clarity and angles. It’s certainly worth every cent and the cost is a real deal. I would encourage anyone to definitely sign on and buy the membership. I have bought the whole collection and I’m so glad I did.
How has your paid membership has been helpful for me…? Well I have seen a lot of polymer clay works and often I wonder… How did they do that? I really like your videos because now I’m learning the answers! Techniques are really what I like learning about. Thanks Cindy.
Hi Cheryl V. Thank you so much for your kind offer but i have just found a Borders reward card that i picked up while in Chicago looking at P C books nothing of interest their, but i kept the card so its found a use after all If i spoil it i will be calling on you LOL once again thanks Ritzs
Your monthly fee is so small compared to what you pay for craft magazines these days and you probably only end up liking a few crafts from the magazine in the end. For what you two have done with this website, the price is quite reasonable. The color cards are fantastic and the community here is very inviting and everyone is willing to share information. I was sort of a beginner when I started out here, and I have learned a great deal… able to try some new tutorials and finally feel good about my creations. I look forward each day to see what is new on your blog. Thanks for all your work that you two put into making this an A+ polymer clay site in my book!
Even if you’re already confident in your polymer clay ability and knowledge, Cindy’s tutorials are very useful. As a group, we are able to suggest what tutorials will be taught next. I personally am not all about animal prints, but I did learn a few tips & techniques from the video that I didn’t have before (and that’s why I’m here). I’m lucky enough to have a learning style that works well with books. So I have a huge arsenal of books in my personal collection. However, there are a lot of people who find video to be a far better resource for them. These tutorials are a fantastic resource for anyone who’s learning style requires that. That being said, being a member of this site is so much more than the weekly tutorials. The funny stories and anecdotes from all the members is the added bonus for me. (I still giggle when I enter a hardware store, knowing that there are so many like me who get the weird looks and the strange questions regarding the items I am buying & why :) And I CANNOT wait for the resin tutorial!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m not sure what time Cindy usually posts tutorials, but I’m going to try to drag my butt out of bed early, before work, to watch it right away!
Cindy: This is so purrrrfect for my business. Since I am Jewerly Jungle, my boxes and bags are leopard print. Now I can use this cane to make little charms to go on my business cards. Thank you sooo much. I love it!
@Laurel: Oh how purrrrfect, Laurel! Those charms are going to make your stuff even more extra-special!
@ Laurel – How perfect . Your business cards are going to be unique.
I really look forward to your weekly videos Cindy & Doug and have learned so much from them over the past year. I too have a library of polymer books and magazines and am fortunate to have a local Guild very supportive in my clay endeavors but still enjoy the video close-up, hands on view of projects well out of my reach normally. Being retired and on a pension I have to be thrifty but find the quarterly $9.95 US money well spent.
Traveling now means always with my trusty laptop so I don’t miss those Friday A.M. videos or the comraderie of the daily blogs.
It took me a long time to join because I wasn’t sure I would want to pay for a video that I couldn’t “hold in my hand” to keep. After I joined I was sorry I hadn’t joined sooner. The videos are so well done. Even though what I do isn’t as precise as Cindy’s, it is good enough for me. The enjoyment of having these lessons available whenever I want them is stupendous.
Hi all you that may be “Surfing”‘ here, come on in,
the Claying is to die for
The cost is the least of your worries.
12 videos per quarter for 9 95 US. a little more Internationally ?, and so much varied and colourful information, not a worry.
You would never be lonely or feel inferior to anyone else here as everyone can work from these videos at their own level in their own time and then come in to see what some others have been doing, and the comeraderie and the pleasant comments are such a joy, like one big family.
I have had so much pleasure just being here.
Cindy is so generous with her time and her man Doug is a Hero among men, in helping Cindy do what she needs to do, to make this a pleasant experience for us all.
The latest thing here, the Screen Grab Images, is just another awsome idea from a great team to show you what this is all about. I love it
I have been in awe at some of the techniques I have learnt in the time I have been here.
If I thought I knew about Polymer Clay before I came here I now have learnt so much more. Every time I rewatch a video I find more in it to enhance my knowledge.
I hope a whole lot of new clayers will join Cindy here and really put Polymer Clay on the Artists Map as a true medium of art that it should be.
See you here soon
XXXX
Eizabeth K.
What more can I add? I ditto everything that’s already been said. I love being a part of Cindy and Doug’s extended family and to keep up with the daily hijinks of the group. Any time I’ve had troubles, Cindy and all were able to answer my questions right away. I also feel I have grown as an “artist” and my friends and family see a definite change in my work. All this for less than the price of 2-3 lattes? What a deal!!!
What a warm and loving feeling I got when I read all of your WONDERFUL comments today… after being away from my computer for the weekend.
To know you all feel that way about the value of the tutorials and the community we have all built together, is oh so gratifying. It makes all the hard work and gazzilion hours that Doug and I have put into this, all worth it! :-) THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
We know that in a world which is often very negative, such outflow of positive support is extremely rare. And like Phaedrakat said, it almost seems like it isn’t real. So reading the comments from each one of you VERY REAL people, makes me feel so appreciative and grateful that it is almost beyond words. (Did you hear that? ALMOST beyond words, as you can imagine, me being speechless is pretty near impossible… Just ask Doug! ;-))
It’s funny, I often get emails from non-members saying that all this “…looks too good to be true. Is it really as great as everyone says? After all, how much can you teach in a 10 minute video anyway? Surely you can’t be covering very much in that amount of time.”
Well… all I can say to that, is join us… you’ll see.
By the way… in regards to the length of my video tutorials… Doug and I put a ton of effort into making sure that they are only as long as they need to be, to teach you what you need to know. No more, no less.
You may not realize it, but the short and concise format of my videos is far more difficult to produce than those long rambling presentations which seem to take forever to get to the point. Who needs that? Wouldn’t you rather get your lessons in quick bite size chunks that are easy to understand… and remember… and actually DO?
Once again… a big thanks to everyone above, who left a comment. You guys are GREAT!
@Cindy Lietz from Polymer Clay Tiles: You are WELCOME! But we owe you the Thanks!
@Cindy Lietz from Polymer Clay Tiles: “You may not realize it, but the short and concise format of my videos is far more difficult to produce than those long rambling presentations which seem to take forever to get to the point.”
That’s one of my pet hates, videos (and people in general) not getting to the point.
I mean if I’m looking for a vid on a particular technique, I don’t want to have to sit through 10 minutes of how to condition clay or use a pasta machine or make a Skinner blend or whatever before I get to the good stuff… and I certainly don’t want to see that Skinner blend go though the pasta machine 20 times!
Hello, dear Cindy:
I just wanted to tell you how fantastic YOU are. I was intrigued by an offer from another polymer clay instructor and paid $36 for a 40 minute video… which YOU would have easily, and I mean easily, covered in 9 minutes flat. WOW, what a value YOU offer!!!! Then I tried a PDF lesson, which, fortunately cost “only” $12. Well, maybe I am really stupid, because I was not able to follow the instructions. I think I’ll just stick with YOU! And that’s that!
YOU are fabulous, your instructions are clear, precise and to the point and can be easily followed. Thank you and Doug, YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!
With very best regards,
Gratefully, Christl
just to add my five pennorth (Yorkshire dialect for five pence meaning not worth much)i would like to say if i had not found Cindy’s site i would never have discovered polymer clay and the wonderful things that you can do.
Also this fabulous blog full of warm and caring people who give their knowledge and expertize willingly and for free.Where else these days do you come across this?
I am just 2 weeks into this and already am looking forward to trying some of the techniques taught by Cindy. I have daubled some in polymer clay, but was intimated by the intricate designs thinking there’s just no way I could do that…but after watching just a few videos, I can’t believe how easy it is! I’m especially ordering back issues! I can’t wait to see what I’ve been missing all this time! Well I’m in now. Phew, finally my polymer clay ambitions will be filled.
