Good News and Bad News from the Polymer Clay Tutor, Cindy Lietz

Cindy Lietz Polymer Clay Tutorials

Let’s Get The Bad News Out of the Way First…

If you hadn’t noticed, all 4 of the Volume-015 videos and recipe cards have already been released for the month of August… even though there is still one more week remaining. This happens every once in a while because of how the calendar year gets split up.

So the bad news is, there will be NO newsletter waiting for you this Friday morning in your email inbox… and NO new video / recipe postings in the members library. I know how so many of you look forward to your Polymer Clay Fridays…

Friday can’t come quick enough!!  Thanks Cindy!! ~Lindsay

I get up especially early on Fridays just to see what video you have sent and I sit down with my coffee and watch. ~Charlene

It is SO much fun getting the email each week… it’s like opening a present EVERY WEEK! ~Linda

I love coming home from work Friday mornings and seeing your emails!!! ~Pam

WOW! Again I can’t wait until Friday. I watch these videos initially during lunch at work. ~Ken

I can’t wait to see the video on Friday! Just three more days and we’ll see you making the pretty beads with this professional looking finish! Life is great sometimes :) ~Squash

Thanks again, I love Friday mornings waiting for your tutorials. ~Bonnie

Fridays especially have me going to the computer very early with excited anticipation. ~MJ

I love my Fridays, my favorite day of the week as I get my video fix. lol ~Theresa

I so love your videos and look forward to every Friday! When you’re a mom and house wife, everyday seems to be a Monday! LOL. So Fridays are my favorite day of the week. ~KlayKisses

I would have been so upset if I had missed Friday’s video. ~Illaya

Hi Cindy, a few weeks ago I was having trouble getting your videos. You emailed me to try to help. Well I found out what was wrong and am back in business. Have just caught up to the most recent ones on the Gerbera canes, so am enthralled that I  will be able to continue now. It was like having withdrawal symptoms not being able to see my weekly videos. So Cindy, thanks for your great work helping us all become good polyclayists. Your videos are a joy to watch and have taught me so much. I look forward to Fridays when I can see what’s going on. All the best. ~Elizabeth

Now for the Good News…

On this Friday coming up (Aug 28), I’m going to show a special feature video here at the blog… to make up for the fact there won’t be a new tutorial posting in the members library.

Since this Friday’s video will be presented here at the blog, that means everyone will be able to watch it without having to log in at the members library.

The video was actually shot a couple of years ago, but it never did get released. And the “special” part about this particular video, is that you get to see “me” talking instead of just my hands. I posted a similar type of interview-style video a while back, and it was well received…

So good to meet you “in person,” Cindy! Through your voice I feel like I know you but with this video you’ve become a person as well as a teacher. You’ve inspired me to a whole new art form. … Keep up the great work! ~Lore

Well hellooo Cindy! So nice to meet you face to face as it were. What a nice video! You should make this video available for everyone who is considering a membership to your library. I know once they see the quality of the video and the very nice person who will be teaching them, they can’t help but sign on. XOXO ~Jaime

Okay Miss Cindy, you might hate what I am about to say . . . I think you should give us current videos of you, today and now. But, wait, not every video of course, (I also hate doing the “Hair, Make-up, and Wardrobe trick”). But every now and then would be so nice, I think we would all love it! It really puts a more personal spin on your wonderful membership. We know your hands are real (HA) and they teach us “wonderful stuff” but I really enjoyed this video. ~Debbie

One More Bit of News…

With this little shift in my publishing schedule, I’m going to take a bit of break away from the computer and spend some family time together with Doug and the kids before the new school year starts up again in September.

I’ll still be able to get the daily blog articles posted… but am hoping that some of you regulars can keep an eye out for questions from those who don’t know I’m taking a few days off.

Wish me luck guys… it’s going to be a bit of an adjustment to step away from the computer like this. But I am looking forward to the (much needed) R&R.

Oh and don’t forget to come back here to the blog on Friday (Aug 28) to see the special feature video of more than just my hands talking… :-)

Couldn’t face a week without a Friday tute. So don’t ever stop!  XOXO ~Jaime

  19. Cindy Lietz, 30 August, 2009

I’m back! Thank you all for the nice wishes!

Managed to get away into the mountains of Whistler for a few days. It is where the downhill skiing events will be in the 2010 Olympics. During the summer, there are lots of beautiful hikes and bike trails you can take, as well, as Gondola rides.

We took the chair lifts to the top and the new Peak to Peak Gondola that takes you from the top of Whistler Mountain over to the top of Blackcomb Mountain. Highest and longest Gondola in the World. Scary for me but the family loved it. (I had to close my eyes a couple of times, but made it through without my heart rate going too high! lol)

Lots of picnics and spending time walking around. Body is tired but mind is still.

Doug took lots of beautiful photos which I’ll have to share on the blog. Some will be great for color palettes. So stay tuned!

I am absolutely buried in comments and emails (literally hundreds), that will take me a few days to get to, so try to be patient. I’ll get to them asap.

Thank you everyone for holding down the fort while we were gone! I am grateful to you all! :-)

  20. Klay Kisses, 01 September, 2009

I am glad you had a nice vacation Cindy. I am very excited to see what happens to Friday mornings now that you are all re-energized and fresh. Oh…I cannot contain my excitement…off to clay…

  21. Diana S, 06 September, 2009

    Hi Cindy!

I be think’n, that you never give yourself a break — and take a vacation! I’m so glad to know that you did do this. I’m a MOM, and a Grandma too, and “Time waits for no man/woman”. Cindy, my Mom use to say, “You blink your eyes, and your children are all grown up”. This weekend, I found myself looking at my one (and) only guy in my life — his name is JACK, and he’s my grandson, and looking at his current picture — well,it blew me away!!! Feel as though, we can only be better, when we feed our souls. Our families are an important part of that. Want to tell ya, “You give so much of yourself to all of us”, but (speaking for myself) I’m so pleased that you did take some time for yourself. Can recall those times, when I would take my son and daughter to New Hampshire (for a week away from everything). Oh Cindy!! I’m sixty-five now, and my children are all grown with children of their own, and we still speak about those special shared moments. Memories are a wonderful moral booster, and it’s the best therapy for any/all of us. Sometimes, I find myself hysterical — because I can still visualize some of those crazy times. Kids can do some crazy stuff, and being there to observe them (first hand), that’s what it’s all about!!! At the same time, when I returned, I was ready to take on the world!!! I’ve felt that way, even having had worked in The Venetian Hotel (and taking a week’s vacation to replenish my self-preservation. Always was like a performer. Ha! Ha! Love people, and met some of the best!!! Even then, the time away helped me to return as my ‘ol outrageous self!!! Ha! Ha! We gotta learn to be able to laugh at ourselves, because we have some really great materials to work with. Ahem!!! Anyway, you get the pickchaaaa!!!!

LOVE YA, AND WHAT YOU BRING TO ME! YOU’RE AN AMAZING ARTIST!!!! Thanks for sharing your talents with all of us!! You are unique, and just so relaxed. For me, you help to reopen that creativity! As we get older (sometimes), things are somewhat intimidating. Your mannerism helps me to be “ME”, and that’s really something!!!! So, I’m as crazy as eva!!! Crazy as a Bedbug!!!

Something to share — the beauty of being allowed the freedom to make something is such a Blessing. To reiterate something I might have mentioned — sometimes since I’m older I need a nudge to get me going. I want everything to be perfect (right at the get-go)! However, I’m realizing that some of my best work comes from making mistakes. Ahem!!! Mistakes can sometimes lead to newer horizons! We can’t be too hard on ourselves — the fact that you are trying something new (that is what’s important). My days are never dull, because my brain is always moving on (to bigger and better things).

The fact that it’s still working, in spite of some (not so nice things that happened in my lifetime). I am Blessed immensely, and will not waste a minute. There are times when I am a Bobbing head doll with shaking hands, but the fact that I’m still able to do all kinds of things — this is what keeps me going. Who really cares. Just enjoy what you are doing, and have fun with it. This is what it is all about. Besides this, I’m allowed the opportunity to teach my grand- children something that will someday be a memory to them too. Such a Blessing! There is really no such thing as a person allowing age to get in your way. LIFE IS AMAZING! We celebrate each new day — for me it’s all about creativity!!! I have alot of fun, and can oftentimes be my crazy self (always) — so I just say, “Jump in with both feet, and don’t think that you need something to hold you adrift. Tread water! If you make a mistake, so be it. What I think is great when I do have some time to work with clay; it is such a freedom! Amen! Besides that, if we come across a problem, we can always torture Cindy!!!!! Ha! Ha!

    Love Ya,

    DIANA QM

P.S. Life is fragile handle with prayer, and also find something to make you smile. This is the name of the game. It’s called survival, and enjoying yourself at the same time. Don’t buy the negativity!! Just do your own thing and have fun. Clay is great for this, and we have Cindy to boot!!! Just think we can even hammer on the clay and get rid of all of our aggression. ENJOY!!!

Regards, and LOVE YA! You are on my mind, in my thoughts, and most important in my prayers.

    DIANA QM

P.S. Glad that I found Ya, and it’s almost a year!!!

  22. Cindy Lietz, 06 September, 2009

@Klay Kisses: Thanks! I did have a really lovely time! Could have used a bit more time though. It was really peaceful in the mountains!

@Diana: Well aren’t you just the sweetest thing! Thank you so much for your exuberant comments. I can not believe it has almost been a year since you first ca,e round! Man time sure flies when you’re having fun! It’s good to have you back here at the blog. In the past you have emailed me messages and I have responded to them. But I could tell that many of my messages never did get through to you because of some filters that your email service provider had set up. So it’s good to hear from you. Communicating with me here on the blog will ensure that our messages get through to each other, rather than ending up lost in cyberspace.
