Currant Bud
2B:
Blush Pink
3B:
Raffia
4B: Dusty Lilac

Isn’t Spring just the most fabulous thing? All the fresh green, or should I say red, buds bursting their way through the skins of the winter bare branches.

These tiny buds from a flowering currant bush that Willow photographed, look so warm and cozy with their fur collars. To me they look like a couple of best friends heading out for an afternoon walk. Of course, my imagination is acting up again!

I choose this Spring photo as the inspiration for our next B-Series Recipe Palette. Everyone who is subscribed to my Polymer Clay Guest List will be able to download the recipes free, one per week on Friday mornings during the month of May 2012.

  • Currant Bud (Recipe 048-1B)
  • Blush Pink (Recipe 048-2B)
  • Raffia (Recipe 048-3B)
  • Dusty Lilac (Recipe 048-4B)

Currant Bud is the most lovely shade of currant pink that I’ve ever seen. It represents the main color of this flowering currant bud. Blush Pink is a soft baby pink with hints of Ecru and is found in the highlights of the budding branch. Raffia is the soft straw color of the hairy collar at the base of each bud. And Dusty Lilac is the smoky lilac purple of the branch of this flowering currant bush.

The recipes described above are from the Volume-048 B-Series Palette. They are free to download for everyone subscribed to my Polymer Clay Guest List, Friday Email Newsletter.

I just wanted to thank you for making the B color recipes free each week. Thanks from all the people who can’t afford to get them any other way. ~Deni-L

I’m still new at mixing colors. I have a few colors to work with and then I see another one in the recipe I don’t have so that’s frustrating when I am ready to mix my colors for a bead. Some day I will have all the basic ones. Thanks for the recipe it helps so much. ~Brenda-E

I absolutely love the color recipe cards!! Just wanted to say thank you to you and your hubby for going to such lengths to teach and mentor all of us. I always get so much inspiration here. ~Tanya-L

    Amazing! Truly just amazing…

  2. pollyanna, 23 April, 2012

Beautiful palette. We used to have a currant bush and would make wine from it. Really tasty. It was long ago but this brings back lots of memories.

Cindy, you made me giggle this morning (and who doesn’t need a good giggle on Monday morning?) with your comment about the “best friends” . Yes, those two proud matching buds could be heading out to their Purple Hat Society meeting in full regalia LOL. Lovely interpretation of Mother Nature’s best colours, as always. Hard to believe we are only one week away from “May flowers”, at least in SOME parts of the Northern Hemisphere. Here in New Brunswick (Eastern Canada) we had school cancellations this morning due to FREEZING RAIN… what the??

I agree with Monique – a giggle from the 2 fuzzy friends ! Spring is my fav time of year. Everything blooming and birds in their breeding colors. A re- new – all. Pretty palette.

    Hello Cindy,

I want to say thank you for all your great tutorials. They have been so inspiring for me at this time of my life. I was diagnosed with liver cancer two years ago. I went thru a surgery, 5 weeks of radiation, 7 months of chemo and all was good, no more cancer. Yesterday I had another MRI and they found a new mass, another cancer but a different type. I will be having another surgery as soon as it can happen, you know after one more scan to make sure it hasn’t spread, and of course after insurance approves everything. I have the most wonderful doctors here and after 9 hours of surgery last time, I made it to see two grandchildren come into this world and what a blessing they are!

Your tutorials have keep me very excited I look forward to each one every week like its Christmas or something! I just don’t know what my future has in store for me, but I am a fighter and with God’s help I will stay strong. You are my therapy. I wish all cancer patients could have such a great artist like you to keep them so inspired to be creative. I certainly will recommend all you do to the many chemo friends I have met, and will meet as we all sit together getting our chemo and chat.

    Take Care
    Stay Healthy
    Many Thanks
    Christine

    PS Thanks to Doug also!

Christine, sorry to hear you have to deal with another round of treatments… but your positive and proactive approach is so inspirational. As you are aware, having a meaningful leisure hobby is very helpful in dealing with illness, and not just as a distraction. I believe that anytime we concentrate on an enjoyable and relaxing activity, whether it is music, reading, yoga or whatever we favour, we are setting our minds in an enhanced state which can assist the healing process. Personally I would put creating art at the top of that list, since it compels our focus both physically and mentally, and for many even spiritually. I hope you continue to enjoy Cindy’s wonderfully diverse videos as companion on your latest health challenge. My best wishes for your complete recovery!

Cindy, you must have been privy to many new stories about how making art with PC is helping others deal with similar challenges. I am curious how the publication of your book is progressing. Hopefully, when your routine settles a little you can give us a quick update. Certainly everyone must be as anxious as I am to read it!

  13. Cindy Lietz, 30 May, 2012

The book is progressing Monique… a little slower than expected but as you know there has been more on our plate that what was expected as well… so I guess that is the way it goes. We will make sure that everyone knows when it becomes available though. It will be neat to finally have it all in print!

  14. Jocelyn, 03 June, 2012

Take as long as you need, both of you. I cannot wait to see the finished product. What is your eta now?

  15. Jocelyn, 08 June, 2012

Saying prayers for you, hang in there!

  16. Cindy Lietz, 24 May, 2012

Thank you to everyone above for all the kind comments. I really appreciate it.

And to Christine specifically… your story really hits home, more than you may know. We lost Doug’s Dad to cancer last week, so the realities of this horrible disease is top of mind for our family right now. We wish you all the best as you deal with it in your life.

    Hi Cindy,

I found your site while searching for polymer clay color palette recipes .. I’m a newbie and the thing that seems to stop me in my tracks most often is blending colors. I can follow the recipes of others and come up with gorgeous clay, but am uncharacteristically frozen when it comes to experimenting on my own. Until I get to that place where I’m more comfortable, I appreciate sites like yours that take the time to create and pass on lovely color palettes.
