“I have a plethora
(LOL) of cutters. Can’t
believe I didn’t think of
this. Cindy, thank you.”
~Dawn-B
On August 24th, I posted an introductory preview clip for the Cookie Cutter Cane tutorial. Today, the full version of this video lesson (Vol-027-4) is available for viewing at the Polymer Clay Members Library. Here is the link: Using Tiny Cookie Cutters To Make Simple Polymer Clay Canes
For anyone who is not yet a paid member, if you did not know, the cost works out to only $3.32 per month. This gives you 24/7 access to the full versions of my Friday video tutes. Plus you also receive four A-series color recipe cards. This week’s color is: Cranberry Bog (4A) from the Snapdragon Polymer Clay Color Palette.
I think for a beginner (like me) Cindy’s videos are tremendously helpful and informative. I subscribe and look forward each week to seeing what I get to learn from her. You could probably search and find similar info from other places, but it’s nice to have this come directly to my inbox and I don’t have to do any work. The color recipes with the printable cards are nice to have as well! ~Camille-C
If you decide you want to become a member at Cindy’s polymer clay tutor library, it’s only $9.95 for 90 days ($3.32 per month)! You get 12 brand-new videos, and even more color recipes. It’s an incredible deal. I used to wander around this blog, looking and reading, but I didn’t join. Once I finally did, though, I was so mad at myself for waiting! I missed out on a lot of tut’s that I could’ve seen for less than a buck! Anyway, at least I’m a member now, and it’s really cool. Members can participate in contests like the one going on now, where you can submit photos of your work. Cindy spotlights the photos and members are eligible to win a set of beads made by Cindy! ~Phaedrakat
I’ve seen techniques in books, but since I’ve been a member, I’ve discovered how much better it is to see a process actually demonstrated. ~Rose-M

Brilliant another good use of all my cutters can’t wait , to go and play ! Thank you cindy xxx
I agree with Anne O! My mom’s got a huge box full of cookie cutters. Now I’m wondering how many of them I could use for this technique (sshhh, don’t tell my mom!). Only problem is my pasta machine took a dive last night while I was doing the Blend and Switch, so I don’t know how much of anything I’ll get to do for awhile (cheap brand, bought BC). :( But I’m thinking Christmas Ornaments? Thanks, Cindy, for another wonderful and useful tut, and thanks Doug for your awesome video skills! Have a great weekend!
Happy Birthday Cindy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Nice video!! ;)
Love this tutorial. My mind is going crazy with color and shape choices. I can’t wait to try this.
Happy Birhday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you have a great day.
Linda B.
Watched the vid before I could comment (today’s post wasn’t up yet), genius is all I can say, it does solve a roadblock in something I had been thinking of doing, so thank you very much Cindy and Doug, and BTW………..HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!…………… 0<);o)
Happy Birthday Cindy!:)
Oh my goodness! I thought this was going to be almost a no-brainer. I didn’t anticipate any of the challenges for creating this cane, so I had a whole bunch of AHAs. Great job, Cindy and Doug. I love the black and white pillow bead.
Hope you have a great day celebrating your birthday, Cindy!
Another fun tutorial with LOTS of possibilities, I can’t wait to try this one.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!! Have a great day. :):)
Happy BD, Cindy! This tute is amazing! I just thought you were supposed to cram all the pieces together -WRONG! You made it so clear Cindy, thanks
Great use of cookie cutters, Cindy. Can’t wait to try this cane, but lately I just haven’t had time for anything else but yardwork…looking forward to the winter.
Enjoy your Birthday…you deserve it! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Happy Birthday Cindy! Hope its a super one!
I had been thinking of this kind of cane for awhile , I had it sort of figured out but after watching this video I’m glad I hadn’t tried it yet. Putting the pieces together, getting them to fit exactly like a jigsaw puzzle is the tricky part. No I know how to do it. Thanks Cindy for the technique made so easy and doug for the great photography as always.
I plan to try your new tutorial today. The beads you made that looked like a pyramid looked like fun. You must have cut a cube on the diagonal. Real cute. Take time for yourself on your birthday. Have a good one.
Happy Birthday, Cindy!
Happy Birthday, Cindy! I haven’t been able to see the video yet, but judging by the comments you’ve outdone yourself — and that’s hard to do! You make everything look easy, but in this case you’ve apparently taken something that looks fairly easy…shown the difficulties involved…found ways to get around them…and made them look easy! (OK, I confused myself with that one!) Maybe I’ll actually watch the video and get it cleared up, LOL.
[I ran errands yesterday & overdid it. Haven’t been on the computer ’til now…can’t stay upright long…too sore. I will try to get back on to see if there are any unanswered questions I can help with…but not going to be a lot of help today. Hopefully the other members are helping, as usual, so that you are able to enjoy your Birthday to the fullest!]
Happy Birthday, to a wonderful, sweet, beautiful, funny, clever, artistic, and generous woman (and so very much more!) You provide so much to the clay community, and to your members lives! You are appreciated and loved by millions (ok, not quite — but almost!) Hope your day is very special, and super happy! Thank you, and once again Happy Birthday, Ms. Polymer Clay Tutor! ;~D)
@ Cindy…I really hope it is your birthday so I can finally sing this song back to you (presumably your sister has already sung this to you once today!:
Happy Birthday to You… You stepped in some Goo (use a P instead of a G)… You smell like a Mangy Woolly Mammoth… and you act like one too!!!
It made me laugh when you “sang” it to me so I hope it makes you laugh too. Have a great day! :-)
Phaedrakat ! OFF TOPIC. Sorry it took so long BUT, I think I figured it out. You have to be someones “friend’ to reply to their posting. Otherwise the comments section state that THEY want your mobile phone or credit card #. That’s gotta be bogus. Anyway I am not playing THAT game. Thanks…….
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CINDY!
Happy Birthday Cindy! Have a great day! Loved the video…very cool!
Happy Birthday from me too!!
Happy, happy birthday, Cindy. Hope the celebration lasts the weekend and it is a super one.
Great tut, as always.
Oh, The possibilities! Happy Birthday! and Thank you!
Thank you SO MUCH everyone for your sweet Birthday messages!! You all make me feel very loved!
I’m glad you guys liked this week’s cookie cutter cane tutorial! As many of you realized by watching the video… there are many ways to make simple techniques, even simpler. Have fun with it and I can’t wait to see what you all post over at the Members Facebook Gallery Page!
I watched the video on my phone today — what a great tutorial! Just as everyone described…you found easy fixes for any ‘potential’ difficulties with this technique. The ‘cut’ is the one I wished I’d thought of when I tried this on my own — would have saved some time and angst!
Thanks for this video, dear Lietz team! You two do such amazing work together, you offer so much to the PC world, and you do if for (nearly) free! While others are out there charging your ’90-day price’ for one written tute, you give us 12 wonderful, easy to follow videos full of inspiration & innovative techniques! Hard to imagine why anyone would pass on such an amazing deal…they just must not know about it. Let’s pass the word on, shall we guys?
Tried my first cookie cutter cane and it turned out well except that I didn’t use colors that contrasted enough. The result was a less than striking effect. Oh well, I am getting pretty lentils with the cane, though. Next time I’ll know, right?
Mine worked great until I started reducing it. I reduced too far and ended up with what looks like dots, unless you use a magnifying glass! So, guess I’ll go back to the drawing boards also. The process works fantastically. I have some cute beads and I also have a lentil. How nice to have something beneficial to do with our ‘failures’!
Hey Cindy, kinda late as I don’t get on here as often as I’d like but
HAPPY BIRTHDAY – from another Virgo ;-)
