It's the holidays and I am taking a bit of break. In case you missed the announcement, the schedule changes for the weekly videos and color recipe cards, is posted here: Polymer Clay Tutorials Holiday Schedule. And to give you something to read here at the blog, I am providing a 4 part series with links to all of the Spotlight Features from the last 6 months. They are very inspirational.
Dear Cindy, The spotlight section is really impressive and such a good idea. I do believe it will have a big influence in raising the artistic status of polymer clay in the community. Just watched the Torn Clay Watercolor video – so easy and so impressive – so many techniques now to try and not enough hours in the day! Imagine our repertoire after a few years of your lessons – I don't think there is anywhere else where you can get this ongoing tuition in polymer clay. Cheers. ~Cara-L

I love revisiting all of these amazing spotlights. I've been at a bit of a loss as to what to clay-wise now that all the gifts have been completed etc. Seeing them again, each such beautiful interpretations of Cindy's teaching is providing the shot in the arm I needed to get going again. Thank you so much for the beginners courses. I wasn't going to purchase it as I thought I was probably past that, but there is so much value in your videos that I couldn't take a chance on missing something great. Right now I have my Lortone tumbler going (I bought it for silver clay) using the river rocks I purchased this am after watching your video (several days ago I sanded part of my thumb away and it hasn't healed yet). I'm so happy to find the answers to questions I haven't even thought of yet. The library videos and the blog are a gold mine of information. I hope to buy the remaining ones over the next few months. Thanks again and have a happy holiday.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, it sure feels good to have the storm of preparation over with and can settle down for a moment and reflect on what the past year has brought. It is so very hard to pick one lesson above all the others but my choice would be the sculpted roses ( even thoughI didn't have success, they all crumbled) I will try again during the lull between shows, but close behind is all the finding and wire work lessons. I'm glad you got the chance to take time to be with your family during the holidays. Thanks so very much Cindy for what you do the other 51 weeks of the year!

I am enjoying your videos and learning so much! Thank you for doing this program…I live in a part of the US where getting to polymer clay classes is not easy, and often very expensive. Even though I have a number of books on pc, your video tutorials are far more educational and therefore a much better value.

@Ken: I couldn't agree with you more!It is nice to have the 'storm' of preparation out of the way and be able to settle down and reflect. That sure was a bummer when your roses broke. (If I remember correctly it was because of the plasticizers being leached from the clay from sitting in the cornstarch too long before baking, right? Well at least you know what to do next time when you're making some more roses. Hope you had a great holiday and I look forward to exciting things in this upcoming year for us all!

I agree that video is often much easier to learn from than books are and that it is a great way to connect with others, especially if you live in a place where classes are not available. We were never sure what it could have been, leeching was one possibility, making the petals too thin and under baking were others. I am saving for a one of those convection ovens and that way I'll be certain the temps are correct and won't risk burning (and also not risk under baking). I actually "scorched" not truly burned a batch of my jade beads, the colors were interesting, not very different from the originals just a little darker and made for aninteresting variation from the normal colors.

Unfortunately I don't have written instructions to go along with my video tutorials at this time. But there are over 700 articles at my blog that will keep you reading for a long time if you like. All of them have at least one photo. Hope this helps you out a bit.
