Excellent support you all have given each other! Great to see! I can't get to these questions as fast as I used to, since the comments are flying in at the 'speed of sound' these days. It is reassuring to know that you all are jumping in to help each other so well. Making this a very valuable resource indeed!

Nice to hear from you again Rob! It has been awhile since I've seen you around the blog. Hope all is well with you!

I just came back from the store, unable to find Future Floor Polish. I am glad to know that the name has changed to "Pledge with the Future", and that it has worked for others with polymer clay. One difference I noticed was the smell--"Future" smells much better than "Pledge with the Future"--I do most of my polymer clay work with children, so that makes a difference.
BTW, I have been using "Future" for years--I always 'cure' it by baking the glazed item again at 250 F for 15 minutes--and I have never had a problem with anything yellowing.

Thanks for the info here!

@Crystal McCarthy: I have been testing PYM II on PC & Sterling wire for Doug and Donna Shepherd, the creators of this great product. The spray is very fine and I have had absolutely no problems with drips. You should give it a try.

@Joyce M: I would like to thank you for visiting my web site. It means alot to get feed back from someone that has never seen my work before. Sometimes its hard to tell if your friends really like your work or just say they do to not hurt feelings. I plan to do more sculptures in the near future, I will be making some dragons and more flowers, maybe even some vases and trinket boxes. Thank you for the encouragement.

@carolyn:
I would like to thank you for visiting my site and the feed back you gave me. I have been worried about my prices being too high. I had read the entire blog on the finishes, and I have found that Verathane while feels dry, does absorb oil and makeup, and I'm afraid to try the PYM because it's a spray and I might get drip marks, I have bought Holloway House Quick Shine, does seem to work but needs more layers then the Pledge. Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot and Ace in my area have stopped selling the Pledge, not sure if they are going to restock or not.

@Crystal McCarthy: Enjoyed visiting your site. Each piece has it owns beauty but the two pieces that caught my eye "Turquoise Delight", a favorite color, and the work is just beautiful. The other is your "Rose in a clay pot". The rose is truly a one of a kind and what a special presentation. You truly are an inspiration and success has to come your way. The best to you in your adventure.

@Crystal McCarthy: Crystal - Search this blog - there are numerous comments regarding finishes. Verathane, PYM II, places to buy Pledge floor polish, etc. BTW, Your site is great! Though your prices do seem a little low for the amount of time you must be putting into the pieces.

Cindy,

I have recently run out of my Pledge with Future, and can no longer find it at any of my local stores. Is there another product that I can use that will offer the same finish and durability? I have finally got my web site going and I don't want something like this put the breaks on. Any help will be great.

On the way home from church today I stopped at the CVS Pharmacy (Lake Tahoe) and actually found a bottle that said 'Future'. Behind it were the bottles that said Pledge with the Future shine. Anyway, I snatched up that Future real fast. I had been to two Safeway stores and also WalMart without finding Future. Now I can play around and see what type of application works best for me - brush - Q-Tips - or dipping. I have short, metal earrings display stands from which I can hang the pieces that already have loops. Others I think I can hang on the little rods that came with the bead tray for the oven. I mostly have lentil beads at this point (great way to start this new art life) and just a few round beads. These are all good for experimenting so when I have really nice pieces I'll know already what system works the best for me.
