Because of Valentines, February is known as the month of love. What better symbol to represent love than a beautiful Celtic Heart Love Knot?

The next set of tutorials coming up for this month, were actually inspired by an art piece done by my 15 year old daughter Willow. Most of you already are familiar with the photos she contributes here at the blog. So you probably have already seen some of her artistic side.

Well wouldn’t you know, one of her Visual Arts projects from school, was recently accepted for display at the Surrey Museum Gallery. It was lovingly sculpted from polymer clay of course!

Willow’s assignment was to make a traditional artwork done in a modern way that represented her heritage. Being a fifth generation Canadian of European decent (Scottish, English, Irish, Swiss, French, Swedish, Prussian, German and possibly others), Willow did some research and found that a Love Spoon (which you will see in the tutorial video), was a perfect fit for her background and the project.

Here is what Willow wrote for her didactic that was posted alongside her artwork, in the gallery:

The Love Spoon is an old tradition practiced throughout Europe. My interpretation of the spoon incorporates many components of my family history and traditions. It was originally used as a gesture symbolizing the start of a relationship and the love between a man and a woman. It was used almost in the same way as an engagement ring is now used.

The man would spend hours carving a wooden spoon for the woman he aspired to marry and if she accepted it, they would start a relationship together. The more complicated and intricate the design was, the more love the man had for the woman. Each component on the spoon had a meaning that the woman would take into consideration when she accepted the spoon.

Many of the symbols you see, relate directly to my family history as the tradition of these spoons. The key and lock represent the promise of faithfulness and the security of having a man who will not leave your side. The bird shows that the two people are lovebirds and they want to go away together, but this particular bird is the design of a wood carving my great-grandfather carved for each one of his fifty grandchildren.

The flower resting on the back of the bird is a symbol for affection but is also the Dogwood flower, which is the provincial flower of British Columbia, the province of which I was born. The twisted stem in my Love Spoon is a Celtic knot which represents the eternal love or togetherness of the two lovers.

The meaning of the wagon wheel is to steer a safe course throughout their life together and the anchor expresses the man’s desire to settle down. I thought the placing of the wheel and anchor was appropriate because my early ancestors were trailblazers as well as fishermen. The seashell and the fish emphasize my family’s background of fishing and love of being out at sea. Lastly, the spoon speaks of providing while the embedded heart says, “I Love You”.

~Willow Lietz

Although me teaching you all how to make a Love Spoon would be interesting and fun, it would be far too detailed and time consuming for me to pull off in the time we have available. Plus it is not in the bead and jewelry making category. None the less, I think it makes a wonderful jumping off point for some Celtic Knot and Faux Wood inspired tutorials.

So… for this upcoming Volume-045 at the Polymer Clay Tutor Library, I have decided to do a series of tutorials that will not only work as individual projects, but can also be combined into more complicated pieces as well:

Vol-045-1, Feb 03: How to make a Celtic Heart Love Knot Pendant;

Vol-045-2, Feb 10: How to make a faux wood cane;

Vol-045-3, Feb 17: Applying cane veneers to baked piece;

Vol-045-4, Feb 24: Making a faux wood Celtic knot pendant.

In addition, I thought you would also enjoy seeing a couple of other Celtic Knot and Love Spoon videos I found on You-Tube.

Please Note: A general prerequisite for all of my weekly tutorials is that you have a good understanding of the polymer clay basics, including: conditioning clay, using a pasta machine, clay blade and other simple tools, making Skinner Blends or Teardrop Blends, baking clay, as well as sanding and finishing. If you need help in these areas, my Polymer Clay Beginners Course will get you up to speed quickly. There is also plenty of free information on this blog. Use the search box at the top of the page to find articles on specific topics.

By the way, if you did not already know, those “shopping” links I provided above for the various tools and supplies, are “affiliate” links. That means companies like Amazon pay me a small commission if you click on the links and end up making a purchase at their site. It’s not a lot, but every bit helps in keeping the cost of my tutorials so low… at only $3.32 per month ;-)

I have been following Cindy Lietz’ blog for a long time now. She is WONDERFUL and her site is so full of fabulous teachings about polymer clay. I can not say enough about all that I have learned from Cindy, My Polymer Clay Tutor, and her tutorial videos. The knowledge Cindy imparts on all of us there is priceless. I would suggest that anyone who is at all interested in working with polymer clay, jewelry making, or in finding fellowship with like minded people, become part of the community, sign up for her courses, and all that Cindy has to offer. Both experienced clayers, and beginners can benefit greatly from her. I am just one of many who has learned so much from Cindy. Her videos are the best. The videos are high quality in all ways (content, picture, and sound). Cindy is such a precise and considerate teacher. She anticipates all of the questions that one might ask, and she answers them, and shows great examples as she answers them, with fun and easy to follow videos. Don’t waste any more time… check her out, and you will be so happy you did… I certainly am!!! A Loyal Follower. ~Cindy-E

You won’t find better – or less expensive – videos anywhere. Cindy’s videos are Class AAA. Her husband, Doug, does the filming. They make a great team and have a way of making it seem as if I were right in the room looking over Cindy’s shoulder. ~Carolyn-F

The following topics are included in this week’s Polymer Clay Tutor Library, Knotted Celtic Heart Pendant video tutorial:

See examples of Celtic Hearts in a variety of sizes and finishes including faux stone and faux wood examples, as well as 2 different completed necklace projects.

Find out how simple it is to create these cool looking hearts that look like they have been carved from a solid piece of wood or stone.

Learn this super easy first step to creating this complicated looking technique. People will be surprised when you tell them that your hearts are not made of real stone or wood.

This week’s heart bead tutorial combines two different polymer clay techniques… Mirror Image Beads (aka Natasha Beads); and the Split Heart Bead Shape.

I made some really cool Natasha beads with scraps.
Customer Feedback About Membership Value:

Hello, I have been a member on Cindy’s site since September of 2008, and I love it! First of all, Cindy Lietz is a real sweetheart. She really appreciates all her members and even those who just stop by for a visit. She has created a vast library of information and adds to it every week. A great deal of her instruction and information is Free, no cost. Her videos are well done: she shows you close-up angles, details, and tapes at a speed that is easy to follow. But my goodness, for $3.32 per month, how can you go wrong! I feel very fortunate to have discovered her site. I have found nothing else online to compare with what she offers. Also her blog has great commentary from Cindy and other Poly artists. Polymer clay lovers… I highly recommend this wonderful site! ~Debbie-M

Hiya Cindy, Your tutorials are the best Cindy, and with your tute’s I have so little scrap clay and I always am able to find a use for the scraps. And I’m very glad your tute’s are so affordable. I learn so much from you. And thanks to Doug too – his video’s and photography are fantastic! Thank you both for all you do for us, your students!!! One of your many grateful students. ~Lisa-W

Cindy – Thank you so very much for your beautiful rose tutorial. I can use it on my valentine cards. I just want to thank you for all the tutorials you have given us in the past and all the ones you will be giving to us in the future because I know I will love them all. The two of you put everything you have into your tutorials. With all the sadness going on in the world and money worries, I can come here and forget about the sadness if just for awhile and no money worries because the cost well you have taken care of that also buy charging next to nothing (a little over 3 dollars a month). So again thank you for all you have given, give and will continue to give. The Lietz team is by far the best pc tutor club in the world!!! I might fight my illnesses a lot of the time and not found a cure yet. But by far Cindy and Doug Lietz the polymer clay tutor is the best medicine and least costing one I have found by far. It heals what ails you. Many uuuuuugggggggs to all, love. ~Peggy-B

I have yet to see a tuturial that doesn’t interest and inform me in some way or another! Thank you so much for being you. ~Susan-B

Hi Cindy, I read all the messages you send and I’m sure you get tired of hearing this over and over, but I can’t express how much I like getting my e-mail saying that another one of your videos is ready for viewing. I received the one about making the clasps, and I thought “no-no-no I want you to teach me polymer clay, not metal work”… but as usual, I watched it and it contained extra information I had not thought of and hadn’t learned in the class I took. I thought the same about the texture video… “I don’t use those and don’t like them” but after watching, I got all these other ideas that I could do. I checked out the Tim Holtz site mentioned somewhere in your site and got new ideas about stenciling and inks! Thanks so much for making these tutorials… they are definitely worth the money! ~Kim-E

Cindy – Honestly, I would be willing to pay a lot more for my membership! You have so many innovative, creative, and time saving tips that are such a great help! Most of my best selling jewelry has been, in one way or another, inspired by at least one of your videos! ~Carrie-W

Well it looks like I have a new favorite polymer clay project. It is these Dogwood Flower Pendants… I think because they look so realistic, and stunning to wear. And they are so easy to make as well!

Last month when I demonstrated how to make the Poinsettia Flowers, I did promise to do more tutes using the Wilton Gum Paste Flower Cutters and Impression Set. These wonderful tools were actually made for cake decorating, but I just love how well they work with polymer clay.

Once you have an awesome cutter collection like this, you’re going to want to learn how to use the whole set. In fact, as you can see from Monique’s comment above, and another one from Angela below, there are even a few members who have converted over to the flowery side, LOL.

Possibly I’m in the minority but I’m not really into making flowers (unless it’s a cane). Or, rather, I WASN’T into making flowers. Now, after seeing the Poinsettia tutorial I can tell I’m going to be making a lot of them this next year. Thank you so much for this tute. ~Angela-M

I was at Michael’s at 8 AM this morning with my 50% off coupon clutched in my hot little hand and got the only one they had my store for $20. They had a few impression kits so returned later with another 50% coupon and got one of those for $12. The book that comes with the Flower Cutter Set is filled with so many great ideas that I am sure we will pursue later. Thanks for this tut Cindy as now I will have a few hostess gifts such as napkin rings, ornaments or brooches / pendants, making this a worthwhile investment. ~Lawerence-S

Got my Wilton cutters and the ideas look great. I do need the Cindy twist to make them come to life though. Can’t wait for more of these flower tutes to appear. ~Pollyanna

So… without further ado, coming up tomorrow (Friday, January 13 2012) in the Vol-044-2 members video at the Polymer Clay Tutor Library, I will be…

***********************************************************************************************

Optional but recommended. You could use a real leaf or leaf texture sheet that you have made yourself instead. You should know that this set is coordinated to work with the Flower Cutter Set above and will also be used in future tutorials, so you may want to put these two tool sets on your Christmas list *wink*.

Thanks for always being here when I need my fix. Looking forward to another year of fun and exciting videos. Keep ‘em coming please. Just put in for another year. Well worth it. I have made the money back ten times over selling the items I make that I learned from Cindy at craft shows . Did not hesitate to sign up for another year. Good job guys!!!! Yeah Cindy and Doug! So thankful for you both! Have a happy klay day! ~Sherry-W

Volume 20 holds fond memories for me… my first videos as a member! Now, over a year later: I’m still a member and SO happy I joined!) ~Phaedrakat

Cindy I love your online videos and look forward to them every week. There is no way that I wouldn’t renew my membership. Look forward to future postings and new ideas. Apart from more caning advice which will be covered in upcoming courses, (that I would definitely buy) I would love to learn how to make more flowers in the future. I love the flower jewellery of the 40′s and 50′s, especially the vintage Japan and West Germany beads and necklaces. I think if you know basic technique then you can experiment and perfect a certain style. I am definitely learning techniques from you and am successful at the new things that I am learning. That is a testament to a very good teacher. So thanks again – all the best. ~Cara-L

You just don’t know when that next bead will turn up. BAM, you just did it Cindy.” ~Peggy-B

Over the years, I’ve discovered that some of the neatest ideas happen purely by accident… and they are often super simple to replicate as well. This was definitely the case with a polymer clay bead design that I came up with a while back, called… Arizona Beads.

Now if you’ve ever been to Arizona (and I know there are quite a few members here, who actually live there), you probably will agree that the beautiful and rugged desert landscape can be very stunning. The canyons and outcroppings are craggy and jagged, with horizontal stripes not only in the rock faces, but also in the magnificent graphic sunsets and sunrises.

So when I originally tripped across this bead shape after playing with some scraps of polymer clay left over from the Tribal Cane Tutorial, the first thought that came to mind was a southwestern desert landscape.

What can I do with a not-so-beautiful cane? I could do lentil beads, but I’ve made so many I’m a little sick of them. I’ll try putting some of the ends thru the pasta machine to see what develops. But I’m wondering, what do you all do with canes that didn’t turn out? ~Rose-M

Yep, some of my favorite beads were destined for scrap. Scrap jupiter beads, scrap slice pendants, and you just never know what you get when you run your scrap through the pasta machine a few times. ~Katie-C

I will pay more attention to my scrap clay from now on — something beautiful like this could happen and I’d miss it trying to hurry and mix my scrap! I love the ragged edge on these beads. What a great idea you had! ~Phaedrakat

I just love these beads, Cindy! Perfect Southwestern Beads, very typical of the Arizona colors. Sometimes, scrap clay turns out better than expected! Thanks for all your tips and ideas, Cindy…keep it coming. ~Lupe-M

Beautiful colors! I’m glad you can invision colors. Nature is a great source for inspiration and living in Arizona I enjoy the earth tones of the desert, the wonderful colors from our cactus and wildflowers, the color influence from Mexico and of course the sunsets. Wow one could stay a wake all night just dreaming up colors. As a very new clayer I find your website very informative, you’re a very gifted person. ~Jeanne-C

Marvelous colour combination. It looks very Southwest and makes me want to fly off to Arizona for some heat and sun. ~Lawrence-S

Love those Arizona scrap clay beads. So pretty. I have came across many happy accidents as well and made outstanding things with those. It’s exciting to hear of others, happy accidents and the beautiful things that come out of that. ~Lynn-W

Oh man, These are awesome! I live in the southwestern US and the rustic orangy colors in these beads are so typical of sunsets in this part of the world. They also remind me of pottery I have seen around here. In fact some of my favorite mugs, though in different colors have this striping effect on them. Thanks for sharing your serendipity, Cindy. ~Elizabeth-S

Oh my! The genius of that Lietz gal! You and your serendipity, Cindy, long may they wave! Lerve, lerve, lerve those Arizona beads! ~Mary-U

Naturally when a cool idea like this comes my way, I’m happy to share it with all of you. So… coming up tomorrow (Friday, November 18, 2011) in the Vol-042-3 members video at the Polymer Clay Tutor Library, I will demonstrate how to make these easy and cool looking, large hole Arizona Beads.
Scrap polymer clay and/or canes. All colors will work, but it is good to have some contrast between them, in order to get more dramatic looking beads.

Embossing Powder (optional). I used Stampendous Embossing Powder .5 Oz-Pirate Gold Opaque, but you can use the color of your choice

Mandrel. I used a 3mm steel mandrel for creating the large hole in these beads. You can use any round rod or dowel in the size that you prefer. Ideas are bamboo skewers, knitting needles, Sculpey Etch ‘n Pearl Tool, crochet hook, anything that a bead can be wrapped around and slide off of, will work. Since you won’t have to bake on the rod, it doesn’t even have to be oven safe to work.

Hi Cindy. I enjoyed your pirate tute. I’ve got a special guy friend who is all about pirates and I think a macrame and pirate bead wristband would be perfect for him. I watched several of your other tutes today. Prior to that, I watched a number of tutes on Youtube, most from ‘professionals’. Once again, I am impressed with the quality of yours – direct and to the point instructions, great camera work, clear sound, good lighting, uber friendliness – I could go on. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – it’s some of the best money I’ve ever spent and I wish I had found you way sooner. It would have made the learning process so much easier for me. Thank you for all you do and have a great day. ~Angela-M

What an exciting month! Thank you, Cindy… for providing us such a wonderful selection of cool tutes/techniques. An amazing array — from Pandora-type beads to hand-forged (and inexpensive) wire rivets. Plus, a lovely cane, a super-smart way to mix our own crackle paints, stunning color palettes, etc. — a lot to be grateful for (and worth WAY more than the $3 membership!) And, of course, everything’s explained and demonstrated beautifully in your videos. Thanks, Cindy…!!! ~Phaedrakat

Hi Cindy, I got your beginners course 2 days ago, finished it last night and became a member today. I signed up for the membership plus the 3 month backdate offer. I want to tell you that you have helped me more in the last 3 days than all the reading I’ve been doing for the last 3 months. Thanks Cindy. ~Linda-F

Since December is sneaking up on us awfully quickly, it’s the perfect time to add cute little Snowmen Beads to your collection!

They’re great for making wintertime accessories such as earrings, bracelets, pendants and even cell phone charms to get you in the holiday spirit. Not only that, these adorable snowy guys, make awesome Christmas Ornaments, you can tie to packages for that extra handmade touch.

Cindy your snowmen are incredibly cute. I bet they would sell out at Christmas craft fairs! ~Aims

Contact with family who received my first clay gifts proved to be encouraging. They loved the hookmarks and book bead charms. The gingerbread family ornaments of four (clay of course) was well received, to be put on the tree with clay ornament hangers. So it is thanks to Cindy for all the information she has shared. ~Joyce-M

Cindy I’ve been making home made gifts since my son was 9 months old. He is 39 now! I have always been into crafts, I started out sewing then I started painting pictures (oils, then acrylics). Fell in love with crewel work. My grandmother taught me how to knit and crochet. Started a small company when the kids were older making country wooden items in the 70s. Then along came companies that made the same except cheaper and cheaply made. Anyway my family always loved handmade gifts. I hope that the economy will bring back that special meaning of someone giving something that they put their personal touch to. I start making gifts in the summer so there will be time for me to enjoy the holidays with my family and not be so stressed out running around looking for that last minute gift. This year for the first time, everyone finally agreed not to bring gifts to the family party for everyone and to just enjoy being with each other, remembering what the true meaning of Christmas is about and play catch up on what has been going on in everyone’s lives. There is 32 of us so you can imagine all these years all the stress of having something for everyone! I never had to worry , but everyone else did. I’m so happy they’re happy! Well I didn’t mean to rattle I just thought I’d share. Happy Holidays to everyone! And thank you again Cindy for sharing what you know. That is a special gift to me. ~MaryEllen-S

This is going to be so much fun. You make every Friday seem like Christmas! ~Fran-R

So… coming up tomorrow (Friday, October 21st, 2011) in the Vol-041-3 members video at the Polymer Clay Tutor Library, I will teach you how to make a cute little Snowmen Beads to use in your fun holiday projects.

Polymer clay in the following colors:
- 5001 White Premo Sculpey
- 5033 Orange Premo Sculpey

Pasta Machine (optional).

Cookie cutters (optional). I used a 3/4 inch square and a 1/2 inch square cutter for measuring the amount of clay.

Cindy, you’re a great teacher and clay mentor and I thank God that I found you and your wonderful clay community / family. I have made some wonderful friends here that have also transferred to facebook where we share photos of our clay endeavors, laughter, and our occasional low moments too. Claying is a great form of therapy for me (and many others from the community here) – I have a birth defect in my lower back, that causes me to be in constant pain, Fibromyalgia, and I’m Bi-Polar. I find claying helps me when I’m manic (it calms me down), and it helps take my mind off the constant pain. I also thank God that your lessons are affordable for me, as we are a one income family every penny counts – your lessons are a fantastic value! I haven’t been around much over this summer… besides it being too hot (no air conditioning in the room I clay in), I’ve been very busy learning to ride the Harley-Davidson Sportster my dear husband bought me this summer. It’s a major dream come true for me… :) (I’m tearing up the roads now… heh heh!). But, the weather is cooling off now, so I am getting back to my clay and our wonderful claying community. I feel like I’m coming home after a bit of time away… :) I thank you and Doug for that happy feeling too! Bless you both! I can never thank you enough Cindy, your lessons are always a bright spot in my week. Peace, Love and Clay. ~Lisa-W

Thanks Cindy, that is very helpful! I hadn’t looked at the lessons in months and just today decided it was time…. and guess what… I was just about to order bracelet blanks when I saw this lesson – worth the fee to have it when I needed it most. Thanks again for such wonderful tips. ~Evelyn-C

There are just too many things you can do with it!” ~Mary-V

Way back in the early days of this blog, I had made some miniature purse charms decorated with tiny little cane slices. It was kind of a complicated process… where I took a little block of clay… added single slices of flower canes to it… and then reformed into a purse shape. Cute, but they took awhile to make.

This month, I decided to revisit the little purse charm project. After some digging around in the ole’ bead bin, I ended up finding one of my original charms (circa 2008). It was decorated with tiny orange flower slices, but to tell you the truth, I was surprised how simple it looked. Memories are selective you know ;-)

Now with a few more years gone by, my purse shaped charms and beads have improved. They are more detailed and the process of making them has been refined… much faster and easier!

So… coming up tomorrow (Friday September 23rd 2011) in the Vol-040-3 members video at the Polymer Clay Tutor Library, I will be demonstrating how to create super adorable, Ikat designer purses, that can be used as charms, beads and pendants for lots of your jewelry making projects. Plus, since they are the perfect size for Barbie, you can make a bunch of great handbags for your daughter’s / granddaughter’s doll collection.

***********************************************************************************************

Polymer Clay Canes in small patterns. I used Diamond Patterned Ikat Canes, and Leopard Canes in my samples, but you could use any cane of your choice. Or you could just use solid colors and do a faux leather technique instead. There are a gazzillion options here!

Scrap clay and small amounts of other clays for embellishment. I used some Ecru Premo clay for the Faux Leather straps on my little handbags.

Pasta Machine or Clay Roller.

Clay Blade.

Old Heavy Duty Wire Cutters (not your good jewelry ones).

Plastic Coated Paperclips. I used the larger ones.

Small Stylus or pointed tool (optional).

Small embellishments such as rhinestones, studs, gems and scrapbooking embellishments (optional).

Antiquing Medium (optional).

It seems here that just about everyone here wants to share their secrets and their ideas and solutions. And most give great feedback and encouragement. When I see someone give “a pat on the back” to a fellow artist it makes me feel inspired. I have learned so much more than how to play with my clay here. I have learned we all have a great support team and my hat goes off to Cindy!! ~Catalina

Catalina: Yes, Cindy has brought us all together at this great site. It has inspired me to clay again – I didn’t think it could be done! Even when I can’t clay, I can come here and see people exchanging ideas and helping each other with their tips and tricks and it’s a great thing to see. Lots of others are very “tight-lipped” about their processes. No help with them (unless you pay a BIG price!) Here, the friendly blog and advice are free. Cindy’s great video tutorials are nearly free.
According to many sources online, some of the hottest Jewelry Trends of 2011 are dramatic, layered and earthy looking jewelry.

Popular materials include mixed metals, stones, bone, wood, coral, chains and pearls. The colors are both spicy and exotic… as well as soft and cool.

As I have probably said a gazzillion times before, the cool thing about polymer clay is that it can mimic just about any material, even organic materials such as Bone, Jade, Wood and even Coral.

Inspired by polymer’s ability to imitate, and my love of all things natural, this week I came up with a simple technique for making very realistic looking exotic Red Coral that can be used for making hand cut Heishi Beads.

So, coming up tomorrow (Friday September 16th, 2011) in the Vol-040-2 members video at the Polymer Clay Tutor Library, I will be demonstrating how to create your own natural looking Faux Coral Heishi Beads to use in all kinds of jewelry making projects.

I love my purchase of the entire set of back issue videos! What a joy to have a “tutor” instead of flying by the seat of my pants, wasting time, money. ~Bonnie-B

Cindy, I so enjoy your videos and look forward to every Friday to see what new thing is happening. I’m impressed with how you take complicated ideas and present them in ways that are easy to understand therefore making them easy for me to attempt to duplicate. I am a teacher also and I know what it takes to pull a lesson together… alot goes into each lesson just to get it to a proper presentation. Now if you were to decide to do more complicated techniques I would be willing to pay more as it would only be fair. Just my thoughts! ~Jayne-S

Well another month has gone by and the Volume-039 Back Issue Videos have now been added to the Polymer Clay Library. If you missed your chance to see these tutorials as they were released each Friday during the month of August, now is your chance to add them to your collection as a convenient bundled package.

Today’s photo shows thumbnail images for the 4 videos included in this Vol-039 Package:

Video-039-1 Pandora Style Beads: Pandora Beads and others of this style (Caspia, Troll, Chamilia, Trinkets), are very popular today because of their collectibility and interchangeable features. Basically, the way this type of jewelry works, is that you buy the large holed, metal lined beads individually, and then slide them onto the specially designed bracelet, necklace or earring blanks, to get different looks. Sort of the modern version of a charm bracelet. With my simple instructions in this lesson, you’ll be making professional looking Pandora Style beads in no time!

Video-039-2 Crackle Paint Technique: In this tutorial you will learn how to make your own paints that will crackle on polymer clay, at a fraction of the cost compared to store bought brands. Plus you will learn some cool techniques on how to apply these hand made crackle paints on various types of jewelry making projects.

Video-039-3 Wire Riveting Intro: Want to learn how to make gorgeous copper riveted jewelry like the pieces you see in the magazines? It’s easier than you might think! And there are so many possibilities for using this cold connection technique in your jewelry projects. The tools and materials required are pretty basic, so you may have most, if not all of them in your studio already.

Video-039-4 Dandelion Ghost Cane: Did you know that it’s possible to make a polymer clay cane where the design appears to float on the surface of whatever you layer the cane slices onto? It’s called a ghost cane, and in this tutorial you will learn how to make one using the pattern of a dandelion puff. Dandelions are the perfect symbol for making wishes, and what could be better than wearing that magical reminder in a piece of cool dandelion jewelry!
